When I woke up again I didn’t know what time it was, but I knew that it was only a few hours later. How? I had no idea. The light outside was gone and the only thing lighting the room was the moon. It had to be late in the evening or night. The only thing I was sure of was that I still wasn’t home.

I stood up and felt relieved that most of the pain was gone, I still felt a little bit stiff.

The house was still dead silent, and I knew that if someone would cough from the other end of the house, I would be able to hear it. At home it was never as quiet as it was right now, my mom and dad would make sure of that.

Mom, Dad. I had to let them know that I was ok. They were probably worried sick. If only I had my bag..

I quickly stood up, I needed to find my bag or at least my phone. I searched the living room I was in, there weren’t many places to look here and after a few minutes I came to the conclusion that my bag wasn’t here. I skipped into the hallway choosing between the kitchen and another room, the kitchen it was. I opened all the cupboards and a few drawers, but just like the living room my bag wasn’t in here. I walked straight to the dining room and searched every corner of it for my bag, and still there was no sign of it.

One hour later I had searched every room on the ground floor but my bag was nowhere to be found. I had to go upstairs, that was the only place where my bag could be.

A few rooms were locked, I had no idea why. I opened the first door to my right, it was dark and I could hear soft snoring sounds. Quietly I closed the door, no way was I going to risk getting caught. The next few doors were locked and I opened another door, which was the bathroom where I had cleaned my wound up before. I closed the door immediately because I knew that my bag wasn’t there, I had already searched every cabinet for a towel and didn’t come across my bag, or any bag.

One occupied and 5 empty bedrooms later I stood in front of the last door on this floor. I opened it and I was welcomed by darkness, it was pitch dark. I held my breath, trying to figure out if there was someone in it or not. It was just like I had hoped quiet and I stepped inside. I let my hand roam over the wall in search of a light switch, when I found it I turned the light on and it immediately lightened the room.

It was a bedroom, a big one. I didn’t spent more time taking in my surroundings, I had one mission; I had to get my phone back. And it was almost if my prayers had been answered, on a 5 meter distance was my phone laying on a drawer. At least I thought it was my phone.

Wasting no time I sprinted towards it and lifted it up, I clicked the home button and the screen lit up. A picture of me and Kelcey appeared and it made me smile for no reason.  It was my phone. I quickly inserted my password and it unlocked.  It still worked and there was phone reception, so that meant I wasn’t in the middle of nowhere.

I stepped out of the room and closed the door quietly behind me. I sprinted as quietly as I could to the bathroom and locked myself inside. I quickly sent my mom a text, knowing that she probably wouldn’t reply instantly.

To: Mom

Mom, I’m going to stay over at Kelcey’s for tonight, if that’s okay with you and dad.  I’m sorry for not telling you earlier. I’ll see you on Monday. I love you xxx

I opened a new text message directing it to Kelcey and started typing.

To: Kelcey

Kel, I need you to cover for me I told my mom I was staying over at yours for tonight, I promise I will explain everything. xo
