When Harry, Louis and Liam had left me on my own again it downed on me what day it was today, Monday. Monday, the first day of every week. Monday, the first school day of every week.  Monday meant a new week. Monday, it was Monday, I was supposed to be home after school today. By the looks of it I knew the chances of me getting home today were slim. I probably still had that herb inside me, seeing as it still was yesterday.

What was I going to do? I couldn’t contact my parents because in a stupid moment I had given my phone to Harry yesterday, I could mentally, no not only mentally but physically as well,  slap myself for my dumbness. If I wasn’t home today after school my parents surely would freak out and call the police.

I was still standing on the same spot as I was standing on when they had left me. I was standing in the big hallway, it was filled with the daylight and as always it was dead silent. I was kind of hungry as well, seeing as I hadn’t eaten my breakfast yet. I had forgotten about it because I was distracted by Liam, Louis and eventually Harry showing their ‘vampire abilities’. I sighed and started to move.

I walked through the hallway towards the kitchen, by now I knew where I had to go when I needed to go to the living room and the kitchen. When I entered the kitchen there was someone in there as well, the blond boy, Niall. He was standing next to the microwave, waiting for whatever was in there. As if he sensed me he turned around, a small smile on his lips.

“Catherine.” he greeted me with a short and fast wave and let his arm hang by his side again, his eyebrows raised as if he was confused that I was walking into the kitchen.

“Niall.” I greeted back, giving him a wave as well. The microwave beeped, signaling that whatever was in there was ready. He turned around and opened it, taking out a mug. He took a small sip and lowered the mug, there was a small red stain on his upper lip, of course it was blood. He licked his lip and took another sip.

I walked around the counter and stood on my tiptoes, reaching for the cupboards. I grabbed the biscuits and a mug for myself. I grabbed the coffee powder and filled the kettle with water. I waited for the water to heat up and when it was ready, I poured the water into the mug with coffee powder and stirred it. All the while Niall kept quiet. I set the mug on the counter opposite of me and grabbed a biscuit, dipping it into the coffee and taking a bite.

“You want some?” I asked Niall, even though it was his house and I was the one who was supposed to ask permission for grabbing some food instead of me asking him if he wanted some food.

“No I’m good.” he replied with a curt nod, taking a quick glance at the liquid inside his mug before connecting his eyes with mine again.

“Oh yeah, you don’t really eat food, right?” I said guiltily, I guess I forgot about that. It must have been weird in the beginning to not eat normal food anymore and instead drink blood.

“We do, sometimes.” he replied and took another sip from his mug. “but we don’t do it as much, the blood is food for us so we don’t really have to eat human food too.”

“Why did you heat up the blood?” I blurted out, not really meaning to ask it, but I did. I took another bite, eating the whole biscuit, preventing me from speaking more.

“It’s more tasty this way, plus it keeps the nagging feeling of hunting down a human and drinking their blood down. The blood coming right from the veins is warm as well, so this satisfies it a bit too.” he explained. I guess that made sense, kind of. I nodded and ate a few other biscuits in silence, Niall watching me while I was. I put the biscuits back where I got them from and downed the coffee at once.
