Once Phil had retired to his bunk after the show, I crept out of my bunk and gave Natalie the thumbs up before I quietly opened the bus door and snuck around to the side entrance of the arena. The plan was that the buses were not to leave for a few hours so this was going to be an advantage in my hands. Putting my hood up over my cap, I stood in the shadows waiting for Lauren to arrive.
Beforehand, the show was amazing and from what I could tell, every member of the audience was on their feet for the girls including my mom and I.
After the show, we retired back to my dressing room where I had said goodbye to my mom, making her promise that she would stay in contact with me every day with no more surprises.
I then headed over to the girls' dressing room to congratulate them on their amazing first show.
Knocking on the door, Normani had greeted me and I was met with an overcrowded room.
Glancing around, I soon figured that it was the girls' family so I gestured to Normani that I would leave and call back later but she was having none of it and insisted that I stayed and met their families.
One by one, I greeted each family member and pictures were took.
As soon as I was finishing up with Dinah's family, I heard Lauren call my name.
Looking at her, she was waving for me to come over and meet her family.
Taking a deep breath, I made my way over.
" Hey Emily." Greeted Lauren's dad Mike, pulling me into a hug. " I've heard great things about you."
Blushing, I didn't know what to say so I just smiled back and greeted Clara, Taylor and Chris.
" Your show was pretty awesome" admitted Taylor blushing a little.
" watch out for this one." Interrupted Mike, " she is a huge fan of yours so she may get a little too attached."
Laughing at his comment and at Taylor's embarrassed look, I joked.
" It's all good. It seems the Jauregui's have a thing for the Lovato's then."
Meeting Lauren's pleading stare, I realised what I had just said.
" I mean, for my mom." I laughed nervously trying to correct the situation. " Whenever we went to my mom's show in LA, I was scared incase I had to call security on her. The love she has for my mom has been there from the start."
Laughing in agreement, I winked at Lauren in order to show her I had it under control.
" Alright, it was nice meeting y'all but I'm afraid I gotta go. I told Natalie I would be back as soon as I said my congrats to the girls. " I prompted, eyeing at the time. " but , I'll hopefully see you guys lurking around here again sometime. It was nice meeting you!" I smiled as I walked away and back to my dressing room to get dressed into something a little more casual and to go over our plan with Natalie.
Standing out here now in the cold, I was pretty glad that Natalie had suggested bringing a hoody.
" Hey, sorry I'm late." A voice broke my thoughts. Glancing up , I smiled. Lauren was fast approaching me matching my outfit. Ripped skinny jeans, a hoody and a baseball cap. " I literally had to go all James Bond to sneak out. The girls think I went to bed early but if they see me later , I'll just tell them I went to visit you. Which is true." She continued slightly out of breath from running up to me.
" Haha , it's alright. I was literally like a minute in front of you anyways." I laughed.
Looking around at the side gate , I peeped up and down to make sure there wasn't any stray fans lurking about.
" The coast is clear." I whispered and took Lauren's hand in mines. Pulling my sleeve down over our hands to help keep us warm and to hide the fact that we were holding hands.
Giggling at my actions, we made our way to a local diner which I looked up on Google maps earlier. I know. A petty move. But c'mon. I'm not familiar with the area.
Keeping our heads down, we walked briskly to the diner without saying anything. You would have expected the air to be filled with tension however it wasn't. It was the perfect silence. However I think that we were both concerned incase we saw the paparazzi or any fans.
Opening the door, I held it open for Lauren.
" After you, my lady."
Giggling , she laughed a thank you and as soon as we went inside the diner, the warm air hit us and I sighed in relief. For Arizona, the weather was pretty damn cold.
" Hello, welcome to Jim's Diner, how many people?" Smiled an elderly lady in an apron.
" Hi, good evening. Just the two please." I smiled in return and we were led to our table which thankfully was positioned near the back of the diner.
Sitting down, the woman took our drinks order.
" Soooo." Lauren drew out blushing.
" Sooo." I copied her laughing at out awkwardness. " This shouldn't be awkward. "
" First dates are always awkward though, right?" Asked Lauren.
" well, considering that this technically isn't our first date. Or are you forgetting about the concert? And this is my first ever date so I don't know how these things run." I admitted.
" Wait, hold up." Lauren said putting her hand up. " You've never been on a date? You should have said! We could have planned something better than sneaking out last minute and coming here."
Reassuring her, I took her hand in mine. " If sneaking off and eating late in a diner means a perfect first date with you, I'd take it any day." I blushed.
" Alright ladies, can I take your order?" Interrupted the woman.
Smiling at Lauren, I was met with a smile. A smile that filled her eyes and made the green orbits shine under the lights.
