//Author Notes: Some of the things discussed in this chapter are a bit rough. It may be triggering so I recommend skipping over this if you don't think you'd be able to handle it. I will recap in the next chapter for those that skip. Your mental health is more important than a chapter of my fanfiction. Thank you! Much love xoxo //

Chapter Nine

"Did you know I have a fear of heights or do you just have a radar of what makes me uncomfortable," Kiera asked, fingers running through faded purple hair. Suddenly she was nervous as she gazed up at the ride, the pit of her stomach churning.

"A bit of both," Dalton answered easily as he gazed at her from the corner of his eye. He chuckled as she narrowed her eyes at him. "I could tell you were anxious about the heights rides. But this is different, I promise. " He smiled brightly at her.

Kiera nodded, "Yeah, you're right. " She took a deep breath and wrapped her arms around herself.

"Are you cold?" Dalton asked and started to shrug his jacket off.

"I'm fine, don't worry about it." She answered quickly, gently pushing the jacket away. He hushed her, "I don't mind it. Please take it." Kiera couldn't help but smile at his act of kindness, with a soft sigh she took the black leather jacket from him. As soon as the jacket was touching the skin of her arms she could feel the warmth that was obviously from Dalton wearing it. Her cheeks burned slightly, "T-thank you, Dalton."

Dalton didn't answer but nodded simply.  The gate before them opened and the ride operator smiled brightly at Kiera "Did you get dragged onto this again?" Kiera felt Dalton's eyes on her, confusion lacing his expression. Her dark eyes scanned the face of the older man, she had seen him last weekend. "Oh! Yeah, " She laughed, "I'm surprised you remembered me."

"Oh, well you and that gal were simply adorable! You were polar opposites, she was excited about everything and you were just kinda terrified of everything." The grey haired man said with a chuckle. "You look a lot more comfortable today. Well, enjoy your ride. Sorry for holdin' ya up!" He sidestepped to allow them through.

The spindles that connected the carts to the main structure were blue that faded to purple and pink. It was pretty in the fading light. Dalton sat in the booth first and offered his hand to Kiera. After getting settled in another guy checked their seats before the moved the ride to allow more people to enter; Dalton cleared his voice. "So you were here before?" His gaze wasn't on her but on the view on their right.

"Yeah, last weekend. Why do you ask?" Kiera tilted her head as he turned his head to look at her.  His eyes seemed clouded, "With your friend?"

"Uh, yeah..." Kiera muttered and looked down at her hands, "I thought I told you. It was three days after I met you."

Dalton nodded, "I think I remember you telling me." He seemed to relax a bit. "Sorry, I was just overthinking. You don't have to explain yourself to me."

Kiera was really confused, everything was fine. "You're not jealous, are you?"

"It's just your friend. Besides, I don't have any right to be. You have a life, you can hang out with whoever. Let's not talk about it, okay?" He snapped slightly.

Kierq felt like she was a balloon and Dalton was a needle, his words had made her deflate. "Sure, I'm sorry."

"Don't apologize!" He huffed and crossed his arms.
