The next morning, Olivia was woken up to the sound of her phone ringing from beside her.
"Who is it?" She grumbled down the phone, still barely awake, so it probably sounded like she was angry at who ever had woken her from her deep slumber, which she was a little bit, but mainly just sleepy.
A familiar laugh rang through Olivia's ears, plastering a smile on her face.
"It's Matty, sorry for waking you up but I was just wondering if you were free tonight? Me and the lads have a gig in town and we were wondering if you and your friend would like to come watch us play? It's cool if you don't want to but I'd love to see you there" Olivia could practically feel Matty grinning through the phone.
"I'd love to, thank you for inviting us! Could you give us a lift down maybe?" Olivia questioned, immediately panicking that it was rude to ask. "Sorry... That was rude, you don't have to" Olivia grimaced, realising how awkward she was making this short and sweet phone call.
Matty chuckled a bit "nah, don't worry - I'd love to give you a lift down. I'll pick you up at like 7:00 yeah?" He paused a bit "or whenever's cool... Just not after 8:00, that's when the gig starts"
Olivia laughed a little bit, but felt herself smiling to herself anyway "7:00 sounds great, thank you Matty. I'll go ask Jessie and text you?"
"Sounds great, thanks for agreeing to come" Matty laughed "Bye!"
"Bye, I'll text you" Olivia said before hanging up the phone.
"JESSIE!" She yelled, before pausing and waiting a few seconds, but there was no sign of Jessie coming. "Fucks sake, you're probably still asleep" she muttered to herself, hauling herself out of bed and shuffling across the ground to her bedroom door. "Hmm, I'm kinda hungry actually" Olivia said in a stage whisper just outside of Jessie's room. "Maybe I'll go make some pancakes" she continued, before turning and walking slowly away from Jessie's room and towards the kitchen. After a few seconds, she heard the sound of footsteps coming up quickly behind her.
"Did you say you were making pancakes?" Jessie asked hurriedly. She had definitely just woken up, her hair was all over the place and she was in just her underwear and an oversized t-shirt.
"Well, yes, but I need to talk to you too" Olivia grinned sheepishly, grabbing Jessie by the hand and dragging her towards the kitchen with her, ignoring the multiple groans coming from her friend.
"So... What's so important that you decided to wake me up at 9am?" Jessie grumbled once they'd made it to the kitchen, only after Olivia had started to assemble the ingredients for pancakes.
"Well, Matty phoned me to ask if we wanted to go to a gig of his band? He's picking us up at about 7:00" Olivia paused, waiting for a response, and when she got none, she continued "You'd get to meet George" she winked.
"Okay fine I'll go" Jessie grinned as she sat down at the table, waiting for her pancakes.
"Yay! Thank you Jess, it'll be so great!" Olivia grinned again, hugging her friend from behind.
"Yeah, yeah I know I'm a great friend, now I woke up to the promise of pancakes" Jessie chuckled, half-hugging Olivia before turning around and banging her knife and fork on the table like a little kid.
"Alright, alright, I'm making them. Patience child."
"So the only reason you're awake so early is because Matty phoned you? Jessie smirked at Olivia, who blushed a deep shade of red.
"Well, 9:00 isn't that early anyway, but yes - the only reason I am awake is because Matty phoned me" She admitted sheepishly, flipping a pancake in the pan.
"N'awwww sounds like somebody's got a crush!" Jessie taunted jokingly.
"I barely know him!" Olivia replied quietly, turning away from Jessie to hide her face, which had somehow turned an even darker shade of red.
"You most definitely fancy him" Jessie said conclusively, happily taking the pancake from the pan and coating it in syrup. "Olivia and Matty, sitting in a tree, K - I - S..." Jessie began to sing, before being cut off by Olivia.
"Shut up! God you're so childish" She huffed, walking out of the room.
"Says the one who's throwing a tantrum because they're refusing to admit they have a crush" Jessie laughed, and grinned when she heard Olivia laughing from the other room. "You're an idiot" she continued when her friend re-entered the room.
"Says you" Olivia stuck out her tongue cheekily, ducking to miss the chunk of pancake which had flown across the room from her best friend. "Hate you" she laughed.
"Love you too"

"Jessie?! Are you nearly ready, Matty will be here soon!" Olivia called out, grabbing her phone from her bedside table and stalking through to her best friends room. "Jessie?!" She called out again when she got no reply. "Are you okay?!"
When she pushed open Jessie's bedroom door, she saw her usually cool and collected best friend sitting hunched over herself, sobbing.
"Oh my goodness! Jessie, what's wrong?!" She hurried out, wrapping her arms around Jessie.
"It's him..." Jessie choked out.
"Who babes? Who's he?" Olivia prompted.
"James... My brother"
"What's wrong?! What's happened to James?!" A sudden wave of dread washed over Olivia as she thought about everything that could of happened to Jessie's older brother. The older brother that Olivia used to have a crush on, the older brother who fished her and Jessie out of a lake that they had fallen into when they were little, the older brother that Olivia considered a great friend.
"He's in hospital, he was in a car crash"
