Chapter 4: Unexplained

The days zoomed by and I became sick with anticipation. My dad is due home Saturday, which is tomorrow. I missed him greatly since it's been about 3 years since we've seen each other in person. He's a busy man. He travels everywhere across the world closing business deals and forming new ones, so he's rarely in one place for very long unless he's back home in the UK. He brings souvenirs and plenty of love to make up for his constant absence in mine and Kirsten's life.

Everything is smooth sailing with Niklaus so far. Unlike how he was before we broke up, he doesn't pay attention to any other female, which I'm grateful. He told me I was his one and only and he was planning to marry me one day and impregnate me along the way. He was getting ahead of himself because for one I wasn't getting married until I was stable on my own before adding someone else to the equation. As for the kid situation that's definitely not happening anytime soon.

Back to the more important issue...my dad! I asked my mom if he could stay at our house with us, but she was like, "Connor wouldn't appreciate him being in the house." Nobody gives a flying pig about Connor and what he does and doesn't like! My dad said he didn't plan to stay at our place anyhow since he already booked a hotel.

I was sitting at my usual table with Cassie at lunch drifting in and out of what she was discussing. She was talking about some new Asian boy that was in her theater class and I caught something about licking the floor...I don't know. Besides that, I have no idea what she was getting at with this conversation.

I was hoping to spend lunch with Niklaus, but he had a doctor's appointment, so I was left with Cassie blabbing on about nonsense. I asked him if I could tag along, but he didn't want me missing any of my classes. I personally think it was a load of crap. He would always try to get me to skip with him, so why is now any different?

I felt something squishy hit my face. Out of surprise, I jumped up from the table with a gasped. My hand automatically went to my left cheek and when I looked at my hand, there were mashed potatoes smeared on it. "What the hell Cassie?" I asked her rather irritated.

"You weren't paying attention to anything I was saying."

"Yes I was so there was no reason to put mashed potatoes on my face you ditz!" I practically screamed.

"Calm down girl. You're making a scene and to be sure you were listening what was a talking about?"

"Uh..." my words caught in my throat because I sure had no idea what to tell her to prove I was listening. "You said something about this new Asian boy that's in your theater class and that you think he's hot."

"Okay well you were listening. Anyway I invited him to come and eat lunch with us, so he should be here any minute."

"Okay."

About 5 minutes later, her friend showed up. He wasn't hot, but he was cute. He seemed very friendly though.

Cassie jumped up as soon as he got close enough and practically wrapped herself around him.

"Kyra this is Wes. Wes this is Kyra my best friend."

"Nice to meet you Kyra."

"The pleasure's all mine. Cassie couldn't stop talking about you."

"Kyra shut up," she smiled big and wide at Wes in embarrassment. "She lives to ruin my life, so don't pay attention to anything she says."

He glanced over at me and I sent him my sweet and innocent smile. The two sat down across from me and at this moment, I wished Niklaus were here. The two began talking animatedly about K-pop (Korean Pop). Cassie told me what it was and had me listen to it before. I may not have understood what they were saying, but the songs were catchy. I instantly fell in love with the music and listen to it on a regular basis.
