Once leaving school, I drove Niklaus to his doctor's appointment. Sometimes I think he enjoys being at the hospital being treated than being at home or anywhere else for that matter. After going for his second treatment, Niklaus made a couple of new friends. They were both over the age of 50, but they were sweet and I think it was good for Niklaus being around people who are also dealing with something similar to him. Today the Cancer Treatment Center seems more packed than usual. Finding a parking space was near impossible, so I dropped Niklaus off at the front and told him I'd meet him after I found a parking space.
After five minutes of riding around the parking lot, I was lucky to find a park close to the front of the treatment center. By now, Niklaus should be receiving his chemoradiation. I stepped out the car and when I grabbed my purse, all the contents decided to jump out and onto the ground leaving all my belongings scattered everywhere.
"Shit." I cursed closing my car door, kneeling down to pick up my things. I gathered everything and threw it inside my purse, but realized my wallet was missing. I looked under the car and under the car beside me, but still didn't see it. When I didn't see my wallet under the two cars, that's when I began to panic. I jumped from the ground and checked inside my car and under the cars again for good measure. Suddenly, I heard a strong, harmonious, Australian voice.
"Excuse me ma'am. Is this yours?" He said. I was at a loss of words because his striking beauty stole all my attention. A female couldn't help, but ogle over this man. He had to be about the height of Niklaus, which was about 6'3". Niklaus, I completely forgot! Some girlfriend I am.
"Ah yes thank you," I replied in a rush while speed walking away from the gorgeous man. I heard his footsteps behind me, but didn't bother turning around. I made my way to the elevator with the doctor right behind me. I had to go all the way to the top floor, which is going to take forever.
The doctor and I stepped into the elevator and I asked what floor. Surprisingly he was going to the same floor as me.
"I'm sorry; I didn't get your name." He said looking over at me.
"Kyra," I replied not taking one glance at the Australian model like doctor.
"It's nice meeting you Kyra. I'm Aiden Smith."
"Nice to meet you Doctor Smith," I said once again not looking at him.
"Call me Aiden."
A silence engulfed the elevator leaving us in an uncomfortable silence. He obviously had something to say because he kept look over my way.
"Is there something you want say to me?" I finally asked him.
"I was just curious as to why you were here at the treatment center is all. Are you a patient?"
"No, my boyfriend's a patient though. He's probably wondering what happened to me."
"If you don't mind me asking, what cancer is he suffering from?"
I didn't want to disclose Niklaus' information to Aiden. He's a doctor, but I still believe it's not my place to tell him.
"It's not my place to tell you that information." Without waiting for his response, I stepped off the elevator and began searching for Niklaus' room. The two older men should be here as well getting their treatment. His room was at the end of the hallway and the door was already open, so I went ahead inside.
Niklaus was sitting between the two older men chatting away not noticing my presence. I felt someone standing behind and instantly whipped around the see Aiden.
"Are you following me?" I asked. I was becoming annoyed with this guy.
"Actually these three men are my patients. The younger one is actually a new patient for me." He said staring me right in the eye. I had to be the one to break the eye contact since he didn't.
