I laid my outfit I was wearing this evening on my bed and headed toward the bathroom to freshen up a bit, which meant me getting in the shower and staying there for at least thirty minutes. After showering, I walked from the bathroom with my towel wrapped around me and blasted the radio. I had no specific type of music I like to listen to, but right now, I was in the mood for some Carrie Underwood. Her new CD Blown Away was amazing! Blown Away began to play and I sang along while making my way back into the bathroom to do my hair and makeup. When I broke up with Niklaus Good Girl was practically my theme song, but not now. The song got to the chorus and I'm pretty sure my singing could be heard throughout the house. Not to brag or anything, but I was an amazing singer if I must say. Taking singing lessons paid off in the end.

The sound of an engine caught my attention. I looked out the window of my bedroom and saw it was my mom and her new beau tagging along with her. When is that woman ever going to settle for a man her own age? The time on my phone read 6:35, I barely had my hair finished, and it will take me an eternity to finish my makeup. Speed walking back to the bathroom I finished my hair in ten minutes tops, began my makeup, and finished in less than 20 minutes. I took about 10 minutes to polish my nails. Now I have a solid 15 minutes to get dressed and wait.

Once I had on the outfit, I checked to make sure it looked good. Thankfully, I didn't have to decide what shoes to wear since Cassie bought the shoes as well. I double-checked my room making sure everything was off then headed downstairs. I'm hoping my mom and Connor were in her room. I barely made it to the bottom step and heard giggling from the living room. My mom was an amazing mother. She was there when I needed to talk to her, sometimes and she gave me everything I wanted and needed. She knew what she wanted in life except for when it came to men. I believe she has some sort a mental disorder that causes her to believe she is younger than she is therefore she dates younger men and not decent, wholesome, older men. That is not my issue now though. I will try my best to sneak into the kitchen without her seeing me.

The best route to the kitchen and the only sadly was to pass by the living room. I came up with a plan which was to stay as close to the wall as possible while making minimal sound. I slipped off my heels and carefully stepped on the bamboo flooring. With my back pressed to the wall, I stepped one foot over the other I was half way there and standing right in front of living room opening. A couple of more steps and then my phone blared my ringtone 'Die In Your Arms' by Justin Bieber.

"Kyra?"

Darn you to heck Niklaus! I was so close, yet so far. I ignored his call and put my phone on vibrate.

"Coming."

I dragged my feet toward the living room opening to meet my misery. She and Connor were as usual snuggled on the couch to my disgust. I didn't bother acknowledging Connor or my mother for that matter because I was trying to avoid having to be in their presence. We stared at each other for a while until it became awkward.

"Okay this is uncomfortable, so I will make my way to the kitchen. Bye." I waved and headed toward the kitchen.

"Hold on young lady," I stopped in my tracks and turned to face her, "Where are you going dressed like that?" My mom looked me up and down silently criticizing the outfit.

"I'm going out with Niklaus and some of his friends."

"Did you ask to leave the house especially if you are wearing that?" She said moving out of Connor's embrace to stand before me.

"I didn't think I had to considering I'm 18 and can legally do what I please." My phone vibrated signaling I had a text. It was Niklaus letting me know he was outside waiting. "Now if you would excuse me my ride is outside waiting for me." I took my leave before she could say anything.
