-Adam's POV-

I nibble on the last bit of the pizza slice before burping, causing everyone in the room to chuckle.

Alesa pulls out her phone and starts texting someone, before frowning and putting it away.

"What's up, babe?" I say to her to make her smile. I love her smile.

She sighs, "Nothing. Just....work. Mark won't stop asking me how to use 'Pixlr'. Saying he can't contour. How the heck am I supposed to tell him how to do something that I don't know how to use!" She says sighing, again.

I watch Laina play with Mason. She stands him up, trying to show him how to walk. It's cute watching the two bond. Maybe I could have her babysit him sometime...

"Adam!" Laina says, pointing to Mason. Her hand is in one of Mason's hands but he's walking!

"Omg! Let me film it!" I say back, pulling out my phone. Alesa starts to laugh and stats recording too, and thus Baby Mason has all angles on him.

Laina lets go of Mason's one hand and the second they release, Mason's back on the ground, giggling.

I start to chuckle, then Laina starts to giggle too.

Then silence.

I hear a door open and close near where y/n had gone to use the restroom. Em steps into the area and sits down next to Laina.

"Sorry, bathroom. Did I miss anything?" She says looking around at us.

"A bit of pizza. Nothing much. Oh, did you happen to see or hear y/n anywhere?" Red says, standing up to stretch.

That's right. Y/n hadn't come back from the bathroom in over 10 minutes. Was she alright?

"N-no." Em says, tickling Mason's belly, "But I did hear a door close across the hallway. I didn't realize we had two bathrooms in the office."

No we don't.

In fact, there is no door across from the bathroom.

Oh no

-Your POV-

I keep my phone flashlight on. Hoping someone walks down the hallway on the other side of the door so I can yell for them. They couldn't possibly hear me from the lounge. Plus if someone is in the hallway with me, I don't want them finding me easily.

I keep the flashlight to my chest, so a faint orange glow only comes through my shirt.

The hallway is silent. I stay as silent as possible. But the only thing not silent is the pounding of my heart against my chest. It feels like one of those ceremonial drums they hit over and over at Japanese Hiachi's.

I slowly pull the flashlight away from my chest and head down the hallway.

I now get a better look, and feeling, of the hallway. The walls have been painted recently, only the corners are slightly peeled. The carpet is the same as in the offices, so it's not like the people who carpeted the place didn't know this hallway existed.

I walk a few steps and stop, kicking up dust particles that have settled into the carpet for who-knows-how-long.

Eventually, the light reaches down the hallway, not uncovering anything suspicious. I walk faster, hoping I don't attract anything.

I spot in the distance something sticking out of the wall. I walk to it and notice it's a photo. A photo, two photos, on both sides of the hallway.

I stop and look at the photo on the left that has been stuck to the wall by a tack. It's rather older looking. It's in black and white. It shows a photo of a boy and girl, who look about 4 years old. They look like twins, the same jawline, eyes, height, and hair color (or shade at least).

They are holding their parents hands, who look down at them lovingly. The boy is petting a cat which goes up to his knee. The girl is squating down next to the cat and pointing at it with her open hand.

On the other side of the hallway is another photo. It's of the same boy with his parents, a little older, but no girl.

And that is when I notice the writing in the corner:

'Adam's first day of second grade. The first year without Hannah.'
