Shane's POV

I simply stare at Lisa. How can one be so breathtakingly beautiful?

Her soft, luscious hair is sprawled across the pillow. Her stomach moves up and down slowly as she breathes peacefully. Her right leg is tangled with my left. She lays there asleep. I swear I can see a smile resting on her pink lips.

I rest my hand behind my head and bite my lip. Lisa moves closer to me, snuggling into my side and resting her head on my shoulder, all the while still sleeping. I put my arm around her petite frame and press my nose to the side of her head. I run my fingers up and down her side gently.

I move my head to look at her when she suddenly starts to giggle. Her eyes open and she is now staring back at me. She continues to laugh and she now begins to squirm.

"Stop, that tickles!" she squeals and tries to move my hand from her hip. I pull her closer to me. My lips place a light kiss to her forehead.

I move my hand away, not in the mood to continue teasing her. "Sorry honey."

She pulls my face down to hers and lowers her eyes to my lips. "Guess what?" She whispers.

I raise my eyebrows, my eyes on her lips as well, "What?" My breath fans her lips and goose bumps start to form on her body.

"You are the love of my life. I'm never letting you leave again."

My heart sinks in my chest, "Oh sweetheart. I'm not going anywhere. You are going to be my wife and I don't plan on letting you leave either."

We share a rather long and loving kiss before pulling away. We lay here snuggled together for a half an hour before she starts to sit up. I get off of the bed and walk over to her side. She grabs onto my shoulders and I lift her off of the bed. "I need to use the restroom," she says with a sheepish grin.

I chuckle. "You're so cute."

She grimaces and moves her hands to her lower stomach.

"Are you okay?" I ask her with concern written all over my features.

She looks up slowly at me and nods, "I think so. The baby must've kicked harder than usual or something."

She then turns and walks to the bathroom. A knot forms in my stomach. I can't help but worry if the baby is okay. She looked in pain and it's only her fifth month of pregnancy. I stand by the door of the bathroom, waiting impatiently for her to come out. My heart beats faster than it ever has before. I can't seem to stop moving.

I stop all movement at once when I hear a loud shriek. "Shane!"

I rush into the bathroom to see Lisa on the floor beside the toilet with only her shirt on. Tears are pouring down her cheeks. I kneel down next to her and start to wipe away her tears. "Honey, what's going on?" I ask as gently as possible.

She points down to her stomach and then to her panties lying on the floor. I put my hand over my mouth when I see the blood. "No. No, no, no!" She yells, "This can't be happening!"

I pull her into my arms, cradling and rocking her, "Shhh, honey. You need to calm down. You don't know what this means. Everything could be fine. There's not that much blood."

She looks at me with hopeless eyes. After slight hesitation, she nods. I kiss her head and lift her up to her feet. "Now let me take you to the hospital and see if everything's okay." She nods again, not being able to speak at the moment due to the shock of what's happening.

Once we get to the hospital, I grab her hand and give it a comforting squeeze. "Stay calm baby, no matter what happens we're going to get through it."

I get out of the car and rush over to the passenger side, opening the door for her and helping her out. She instantly intertwines her hand with mine and we walk hand in hand into the hospital.

I go up to the desk and tell the lady what's going on. She sends us to a room immediately and tells us the doctor should be there as soon as he can. I help Lisa change into the hospital gown before sitting beside her on the bed. Lisa puts her hand on my cheek as she looks at me with such sadness.

"I'm scared," she whimpers. That's the first thing she's said since we were at home.

I lean in and press a gentle kiss to her lips, so gentle that it's as if our lips weren't touching. "I know this is scary, but you just have to take a deep breath and try to stay calm. I'm here and I'm not going anywhere. Whatever happens, you won't be alone."

She closes her eyes. Lisa buries her face into my chest. I feel her warm tears start to form on my shirt. I rest my chin on her head as I hold her close to me and whisper sweet nothings to her.

After what seems like an eternity, the doctor comes into the room. He is tall, thin and has a permanent smile plastered on his face. "Hi I'm Dr. Gordon. I was informed about your situation. Lisa, is it?" His eyes land on Lisa. She pulls away from my grasp and nods.

"Yes that's me," she says.

"I have to run some tests to see what's going on with you and the baby if you don't mind. But your boyfriend is going to have to leave since he's not immediate family," Dr. Gordon says, a frown replacing his usual annoying smirk.

Lisa's face drops. She begins to nervously clench the sheets in her hands. "B-but I can't do this alone."

Dr. Gordon looks between the two of us, "I'm sorry sweetheart. Don't worry, we'll send him in right after we run the tests and he will be in the room when the results are finalized."

Lisa sits up and slams her arms down onto the bed angrily, "Oh great! So he gets to be here when you tell us that the baby I've been carrying for over five months is gone and that we won't be able to hold her like we've been waiting all this time for? Splendid."

Tears are now spilling out of Lisa's eyes. Sobs emit from her mouth and she starts shaking tremendously. The doctor and I rush over to her. "Hey, shhhh. Lisa you have to calm down. This can't be good for the baby. You don't know the results yet. Don't make assumptions," I say.

She continues to cry and grabs a fist full of my shirt. Dr. Gordon points me toward the door and signals with a head tilt to leave. I kiss Lisa's forehead. "I love you," I say quietly before leaving the room.

Once I get to the waiting room, I sit down with my head in my hands.

Oh baby girl, please be okay. Please be okay," I whisper to the air.

I am so sorry it took me forever to update. I've been really busy with school, but I hope to update more frequently now. And sorry for the sad chapter and the cliffhanger. Tell me your thoughts! -Hannah
