He wanted to care, he wanted to care so badly, but there was this gap between what he felt and what he wanted to feel, a space where something important was carved out. And it was growing. But in the end he ignored it anyway.
Calum Thomas Hood didn't have perfect features or eyes like oceans that you can drown yourself in. He was normal. A sunflower in a field of red roses.
He thought that he was cursed, that the way he was built was horrendous, that in today's society you were only important if you were beautiful but he learned that was something he couldn't avoid. That eventually he would have to learn to love himself.
Calum Thomas Hood would often think of how different his life would be if he was extraordinary. Would he still be lonely? Would someone find him interesting? Questions like these would take over his simple mind.
He just felt so mediocre.
He wondered if he ever caught anyone's attention. Even if he was just walking along the crowd, he wondered if they wanted to get to know him or anything like that.
He didn't really have anyone to blame for viewing himself this way. No one treated him as viciously as he would treat himself. Maybe he just needed an eyeopener, someone or something that will give him purpose. But that's the problem, because you can't rely on people to make you feel better either but it doesn't hurt to try?
