His bag wasn't all too big, he tried his best to fit in all the things he needed. Clothes, shoes, underwear, what else, what else? His mind raced and he felt the happiest, he felt wild and crazy, these were emotions he never felt before. This was the first time Calum Thomas Hood wasn't going according to plan.
His plan was the way he was going to live his life, he wasn't even sure about his plan anymore or who he was. He didn't really take risks and he was always the teenager that was the designated driver at parties, if he ever got invited to them, because he would always stay sober while everyone danced, with red solo cups in their hands.
A toothbrush! He needed a toothbrush! Calum ran to the bathroom and grabbed this necessity. He was rushing because if his mother and father came home while he did all this, they'd be disappointed. They wouldn't let him go, even though he was legally an adult, but they were so used to Calum lingering around the house. Who could blame them?
He rummaged his drawers, looking for the money he had saved up since forever. He found it, shoving it in his wallet.
He grabbed his book bag, made sure he had his money and phone, and was ready to leave. He looked back at his unorganized room. And his eyes flickered to his guitar case. He knew he should leave but he ran back and grabbed it anyway. Music was Calum's forbidden dream. And it made him feel human. His parents were against it. But he was already breaking so many rules, it doesn't hurt to add one more to the list?
He left the room, opening the door to find his Mother in front of it. Fuck, he thought, he obviously took too much time reminiscing.
"Where do you think you're going, Thomas?" His mother asked. Calum didn't look her in the eye, "I don't know yet" , his mother grabbed his face and made him face her. "Nonsense, come inside at once." She grabbed his arm, and tried to force him to enter the house. Calum didn't move.
"No!", he argued bluntly. Calum Thomas Hood was nothing but obedient and respectful towards his mother so you can imagine how surprised she was when he was refusing. "Oh Thomas! How about your soccer career, and everything we've worked hard for? Are you going to be stupid and throw your life away!"
"I've changed my mind" he told her. "It's because of that guitar, right? Give it to me now!" She tried to get the guitar case, Calum wouldn't let her but she managed to pry it from his hands, she ran back inside the house, Calum not so far behind and ripped the guitar out of its place and smashed it on the floor.
Bits of wood went flying into the air, the strings that Calum used to strum curled and broke. The instrument was destroyed already but she kept going at it. Hitting and kicking it. Calum felt as if his whole world went into reverse.
