Logan's POV

Somethings I found comforting included my friends, my family, and basketball.

Evan, Wes and I were out on the courts in our town's only elementary school--Sea View Elementary--shooting hoops and just talking about life.

It was twilight on a Tuesday morning; so far, the day had been boring. None of the girls were up to going out, and for some strange reason, Jared and Amelia had been m.i.a. For three days.

"Come on. They're probably fucking each other's brains out." Wes had said when I mentioned the Jared and Amelia dilemma.

"Did you see there compromising positions on the beach on Saturday? If that doesn't say 'relationship' then I don't know what else could." Jared replied back.

"Well, it isn't like we don't know that you and Charlotte aren't getting together as well."

Jared smirked, mentioning how I had kissed Halia as of recently.

Wes stopped his dur belong and frowned. "I'm going to be forever alone. And I'm the mos handsome of this lot as well!"

I smacked the ball out of Wes's hands and went up for a three.

All three of us watched as the Wilson's orange leather ball effortlessly swooshed into the net.

"Helios, cut it out. You're already been promised scholarship down in Berkeley. Let the football players try there hand at basketball." Jared scoffed, quickly ran after the loose ball.

The orangey tones of sunset were turning into bold purples and indigoes, and after another 30 minutes of beating Wes and Jared's asses, we parted ways.

I hummed a song on the radio as I drove home. Taking the scenic route, although longer, relaxed my mind a little from the thought of going home. I appreciated the humbleness of this town; the way the theatre shone in the night sky, how the shop signs had to be repainted every summer because of the hot sun fading it out even in winter. I loved the old-fashioned ways of this town, I couldn't imagine living anywhere else.

The song on the radio changed, and I started humming that song instead. I turned off of Main Street onto Pearl Court; where more of the bigger houses resided. Well, bigger wasn't the right word for it. The fifty-some collection of mansion estates that sat in Pearl Court were mostly summer homes; only some of the more privileged of the Jenner lived here.

Including me.

I pulled up to 4379 Pearl Court, home of the Helios's. This house was a sky blue, with white and darker blue shutters that complimented the design, which was Tudor style. Grey and white brick off set the sides to where the four car garage was; I simply just parked out on the driveway. Something that really bothered my dad.

The thought of my dad alone was enough to sour my mood.

Good thing he won't be home.

As usual, when I walked into the massive foyer, I found my mother perched in her prized bay-window, a glass of red wine in one hand, and a paperback novel of some sorts in the other. Her  red hair was down, wavy around her face, making her look younger. She usually wore it up in a severe ponytail. Being an attorney seemed like an impossible job to handle.

My mother looked up from her book, a smile on her face as she put down her glass and book and rushed over to give me a hug.

"Mom! I'm sweaty and b.o.-ey, I'm not sure hugging is the right way to greet me right now." I complained, realizing how gross and disgusting I must be. Imagine if Halia saw me--
