I always regret staying up late before school but fuck it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Bruce tapped his foot impatiently while he waited for Clark to find his suit. He had told Mr.Fox that he'd be running a bit late due to traffic but that could only buy him so much time. Clark groaned tossing shirts and pants out of his closet, how hard could it be to find a suit. Bruce would've taken him suit shopping if they had the time which they didn't.
Clark finally breathed out a sigh of relief grabbing a charcoal colored suit that was a bit wrinkled. He could hear Bruce's tapping from the living room and he knew he was taking longer than expected yet somehow Bruce's impatience still annoyed him. He put the charcoal suit over his super suit and slipped on a pair of black dress shoes that were luckily easy to find. He put on his glasses and grabbed his satchel where his notepad and books rested.
Clark stepped out of the room and Bruce glared at him, "we have forty minutes to get there and the limo is waiting."
"Okay, wanna brief on the way there." Clark guided him out of his apartment and towards the elevator.
"Did you forget already?" Bruce sounded aspirated and Clark frowned.
"Just so nothing goes wrong." Clark stepped into the elevator along with Bruce,"rather safe than sorry."
Bruce rolled his eyes but nodded in agreement. The elevator creaked and suddenly stopped with a loud groan. The elevator shook knocking both men off their feet. Clark's eyes grew wide as the alarm started blaring for the fire department. They both stood back up their nerves calming. Bruce sighed rubbing the bridge of his nose.
Clark hadn't noticed till now but Bruce looked really worn out. His usual calm shell had cracked into something of agitation and frustration. His hair wasn't as perfectly slicked back as it usually was and his tie was crooked not that anyone had noticed. Is that a jam stain hiding under his tie? Clark had never seen Bruce so out of it before.
"Are you sure you're up for this?" Clark questioned and Bruce shot him a threatening look.
"What kind of question is that?" Bruce scowled and Clark gave him a half smile.
"It's just you seem tired is all." Clark expressed his concern.
"I'm not." Bruce wanted nothing more than to not be trapped in an elevator with Clark especially after how he's been all week, "now will you open this elevator so we can leave."
For a while now Bruce had been feeling something towards the other hero he just didn't know what. Everytime Clark was in danger he jumped at the opportunity to save him even if that meant risking his own life, when Clark spoke he wasn't annoyed like he used to be, and the small things Clark did made Bruce rather fond of him. Bruce tore his gaze from Clark and looked at anything but the other male.
"There's no point it's inbetween floors." Clark huffed and Bruce clenched his fist taking in a deep breath.
The elevator rocked with Clark's movements the soft creaking made both men sigh. Bruce huffed and took a seat on the floor accepting their fate. Clark sat across from him looking at Bruce who was actually easier on the eyes than he had originally expected. Bruce rested his head on the elevator wall and shut his eyes ignoring the journalist.
"We have to tell the others." Clark spoke up and Bruce opened his eyes again, "..to cancel or change the plan."
"You're right." Bruce nodded and Clark looked at him with wide eyes.
Bruce tapped his communicator and almost automatically it came to life showing Wally and Diana from the other side. Clark had taken this as an invitation to sit directly by Bruce looking over his shoulder. Bruce held his breath for a second before relaxing a bit.
