Date: October 25th 1915It felt very awkward to stand there not knowing everyone but Isabella and she was busy talking to the guests as I was standing aside one of the tables at the back taking a sip of my drink every few seconds. She was taking glances at me every once in a while but she wasn't smiling at me.
Jungkook walked in through the doors, he stood there for a while to scan his surroundings. His eyes landed on me and he walked towards me. I tried ignoring his presence. I gulped down the last bit of the alcohol down my throat. The burning sensation made me release a weird sound from my throat as if it would make the sour and burning sensation go away. The waiter walked passed me but I stopped him by calling him. He turned around and listened to what I told him. "Put the tray down, you're excused."
I took the first glass and placed it on lips then without thinking I gulped it all down. A few drops of the alcohol was dripping down the corner of my mouth to my chin. I wiped them off with the back of my hand. "Hoseok, I'm sorry about today." He said with a hint of sadness in his voice. I ignored him and I still had my eyes locked on Isabella even though she wasn't looking at me. I took the next glass not looking away from Isabella and Jungkook tried to stop me. He tried grabbing the glass from my hand but I snatched my hand away from him and gulped it down. "Hoseok, just stop it already you're acting like a fool." He said angrily. I could tell he was done dealing with me. I was drinking because I wanted something to give me courage to walk towards her. I slammed the glass to the table and walked towards Isabella. I could hear Jungkook's voice even though the music was loud, but I ignored him.
When I got close to her she noticed someone's presence and looked at me. I could tell the nervous look she had in her eyes. I knew what I was doing was wrong but I had to man up because I knew it was either that moment or never. "Your highness, would you give me the pleasure to have a dance with you?" I asked politely. I placed my right hand out as my left hand was behind my back. Almost immediately she replied "I'd love to." She accepted my hand that was out and I walked her to the middle of the ballroom where everyone was dancing. All eyes were on us maybe because no one had the courage to ask her for a dance and everyone didn't expect anyone to do so.
My hand was on her waist as she placed her hand gently on my shoulder, my other hand was holding her other hand up. My heart was racing, I couldn't believe that my hand was touching her waist as her gentle hand was touching my shoulder. Our bodies were moving with the rhythm of the music, somehow it felt like my body was as light as a feather, I felt electricity running through my body.
A smile was formed on her as well as mine. I was lost in her eyes. I was mesmerized by her emerald green eyes. For a moment I almost forgot that people were watching us as if we were slowly falling into our own world where it was only the two of us. A world no one existed in it but her and I. "Hoseok, I think that's enough, I don't want anyone to get the wrong idea." She whispered but it was loud enough for only me to hear her. "They won't misunderstand us because what is between us is real." I told her. "If you truly care about my reputation stop this instant." She replied back to me. I couldn't force her, I backed away and both of us bowed slightly to each other. I left the ballroom and made my way towards the balcony that was down the hallway. I needed some clean air to breathe in.
Moments passed by which felt like seconds. I had my body leaned over the edge but not too much. I heard footsteps coming towards my way so I turned around to face Isabella. "I'm sorry for what happened inside, I just felt uncomfortable with everyone's eyes on us." I shook my head and said "I just wanted to dance with you but when I think about it it's a good thing we stopped dancing because I'm a little bit drunk I would've caused a disaster and tumbled over." We both laughed. She put her hand out, I raised my eyes row in confusion. "What's wrong? Take my hand, let's dance here." She told me. "I told you I'm slightly drunk I'll tumble down." I replied. "Just take my hand no one is here, let's be silly!" I took her hand still not knowing what she was saying.
She pulled me closer to her gently then started jumping around and twirling around. We were dancing to the music but not dancing by the rhythm at all, we just wanted to have fun. Her laughter filled up the balcony, her laugh was like music to my ears. I could tell that she was genuinely happy. I did the same dance moves she was doing as I was still holding her hand. We kept dancing to the end of the balcony back to the beginning. It was the middle of the night, we were dancing under the emerald moon.
She bumped into me by accident because she was jumping causing me to tumble back but I somehow managed to gain my balance back. Our laughters filled the dark night, I knew this was a night I would never forget. Our laughters were cut off by Jungkook walking out to the balcony saying that we had to go back to the ball room because there was an announcement that had to be made with the presence of the princess. Isabella looked confused but we still went. We both were still smiling.
She walked towards her parents as the Prince of France was standing close by. Seeing that scene reminded me of what Yoongi told me but in my heart I hoped that Yoongi's words were wrong. My smile immediately dropped, Isabella was still looking at me smiling when she saw my smile disappear her smile slowly started to fade away even before the announcement.
"We would like to tell you the real reason for the ball tonight. It was to announce that tonight is the engagement of The Prince of France and The Princess of Italy." Everyone gasped but clapped almost immediately. Everyone was happy but in the crowd there were Isabella and I heartbroken looking at each other with sorrow in our eyes. I've lost her before even having her.
