Cassandra's POV
I sat down patiently waiting for Amy in the dinning room. I felt drained, any time Cat took over, I always felt weak afterwards but I willed myself to remain strong because today no matter what I was going to accomplish what I have planned out. Taking a few deep breaths, I stood up just in time to see Amy Walk in."Are you ready?" She asked.
"Of course." It's time to find out who I am fighting and risking my life to save. I hope this tour will give me a reason to stay and fight and not run away like my mind keeps telling me to.
"Where do we start from?" She asked
"Let's start from the bottom. I want to meet the Cleaners." She nodded in understanding and the tour began.
****
I found out that there was a staff quarters, a separate wing of the palace where all members who work in the palace lived. There, I met a lot of people mostly kids and I found out the reason was because most of the workers were at their posts during the day time and because of the state of things in the kingdom the kids couldn't go to school so they were mostly home.
That is the first thing I am going to find a solution to, the kids needed to go to school.
Next, we visited the guard house as they called it. This was after the staff quarters, all the guards in the palace lived there. I didn't find any kids there because only the unmarried guards stayed there, the married ones stayed in the staff quarters. I also realized something else, only men were allowed to become palace guards.
Our next destination was the kitchen. There I was introduced to the head chef. A pretty, plum lady who looked to be in her 40s.
Although at first glance she looked like a stern old lady I found out that she was actually very warm but was a no nonsense kind of person. She ran the kitchen. She started warming up to me the moment I complimented her meals. The other workers were also all Ladies. I found out again that men weren't allowed to work in the kitchen. As we moved on I tried to make sure I learned most of their names and remembered them by their faces because I was bad with names.
As we moved along the corridors I also met a few guards and workers. The guards had a rooster, I asked for it to be brought to me so I knew their names. Also, Amy had answered my question about the stripes and the different uniforms.
The guards with stripes were palace guards while the ones in black were the soldiers, the ones who fought battles outside the palace. The palace guards never leave the palace.
Our final destination was the Queen's wing. According to Amy this was where all visitors to the palace stayed. Also this was where the king and Queen's rooms were found but it was built in such a way that a visitor couldn't get to the rooms of the king and queen without going through at least 10 guards because it was heavily guarded. In a way, the wing was divided into two, one for the royals/nobles who are not related to the crown and those that are related to the crown.
Although Amy's room was also in this wing. She said it was because the Queen's lot had a bond to the queen so As we continued, she showed me where my brother and his friends rooms were and also the king and Queen's room. I also discovered that the palaces had a very big library but I would have to come back another time.
Amy was getting tired so we decided to retire for the day to be continued tomorrow. We went back to the dinning room and after a while Amy left so I was left alone in the huge dinning room just staring into space. While we were going around I wasn't tired but now I could feel how tired I really was.
I decided it was time I also retired to my room. For the first time I actually knew the way to my room. I took a quick shower, changed into the clothes I found on my bed but the difference was, this time I knew the girl who put them there. The moment I laid down, my whole body protested. I quickly found a comfortable position and without having to wait so much as a minute I drifted off to sleep.
***
I woke up very late the next morning, I was surprised because for the first time Amy didn't come to wake me up and I wondered why. Since I got here, I haven't slept past six am but today, taking a look at the clock on the wall, it was a few minutes to nine.
Groggily, I rose from my bed and headed to the bathroom. I took a long hot shower because frankly my body needed it. Grabbing a towel from the rack I looked round my bathroom which is twice the size of my bathroom I had before, I looked at the walls which were tiled to perfection, in fact it was fit for a queen. Sometimes I forget that in this place, I am the Queen or princess. I needed to get my priorities right, it had been a week since that terrible raid where Garcia and Aunt Stella were taken, time is running out. I haven't even started training, funny enough I haven't heard Cat's voice in a while.
"Cat, are you still up there? Or have you decided to abandon me?" For a minutes I waited, nothing was heard but then I heard that familiar voice I had gotten used to speak again
"No my princess, besides even if I wanted to I couldn't" Her words brought a smile to my face, I missed her straightforward and sarcastic words.
"I think it's time we got serious Catlyn, I want you to teach me something that will help me defend myself. Do you think you can?" I asked hopefully, it was time I found out what I was capable of.
"Of course but the problem is your body is not yet strong enough, you need to train." Her voice hinted her disappointment. I'm sure she was also tired of being dormant.
"What kind of training did you have a mind?" It was time I started pulling my own weight.
"Hand-to-hand combat for starters. Some of the spells and magic require a basic knowledge in the art of fighting" I should have known it wouldn't have been easy.
"Okay thank you, I will do just that" At least I know what I'm going to be doing throughout today. First thing's first I need to find out where the soldiers training ground was then I had to visit the library, and according to Amy it was time I started handling the paperwork for the kingdom. I also wanted to find out more about my birth parents that part of my life was still a little vague. Some things needed to be clarified, were they dead or Alive?.
