I breathed in heavily.

I looked into the mirror one last time. Today was the day. I mentally prepared myself to wake up early from today onward and bid goodbye to summer. I wasn't wearing anything special- a loose white sweater with a tiny little bow attached to the collar and a polka dot skirt paired with stockings and black boots. I threw my brown hair into a messy bun in the last minute and topped off my entire look with a bracelet.

I smiled at the memory of it. During middle school, I was very convinced that the cute boy that sat two rows in front of me and I were destined to be. I chuckled at the thought. Apparently, he thought the same. He had gifted this to me during my eleventh birthday. I had worn it since.

I caught a glimpse of the scenery outside my window and sighed in response. Fall was my favorite season. The spectrum of leaves were extremely tempting; I loved the feeling of just laying in a pile of leaves. The Sun cut through the leaves, illuminating my entire street. I was interrupted from my trance when I heard my mother yell at me from downstairs.

I cursed at myself silently and hurried downstairs. My mother was already dressed for her court session and my dad, unsurprisingly, was trying to catch up to her. Both my parents are lawyers. My mother specialized in criminal law and my father specialized in corporate law. I beamed proudly at my parents when a pang of jealousy took over me. Looking at them was almost like looking at ballet dancers- they were so in sync with each other, it was beautiful. I felt jealous because my parents had achieved something I could only dream of.

My mother gave me a disapproving glare as I grabbed a granola bar and an apple from the kitchen island. However, through years of experience, I scurried out of the house before she could utter a word. I would deal with that later. As I walked, or rather, ran to school, it finally dawned on me that this would be my last year in high school. Until November came, I would be whisked away from place to place running errands: I had visit colleges, complete my college applications, finish the painting I'd been working on since summer, prepare for interviews and so much more. I was happy that I had a clear goal for college and patted myself on the back. I wasn't exactly known for being decisive. I made a mental note to check up on my recommendation letters and breathed a sigh of relief when the school appeared in my field of vision.

The first thing that came to my mind as soon as I saw the entrance were my friends. I had stuck with the same friends since middle school. Bella was my best friend. I had practically known her for as long as I've known myself. She had been through it all with me. Thea and I had grown close since the beginning of high school, and so did Bella. All the memories came rushing to me and a huge wave of nostalgia engulfed me whole. I shook my head and pressed forward, smiling when I saw what Bella was wearing. Her brown hair and her shocking blue eyes created quite a contrast and her thin and elegant frame made her look like a ballet dancer. She was wearing our traditional first-day-of-the-school outfit. In other words, we were twinning. I was happy that we had kept our tradition for nearly nine years.

'Hey you.' I greeted as I approached her. Her face lit up as she enveloped me into a bear hug and I couldn't protest. I had missed her over the summer. We were both laughing by the time I had pried her off of me. 'How was summer in the Hamptons?'

'It was breathtaking. The food was fabulous, the beaches and the long night strolls were amazing, the weather was perfect and I have so much to tell you. You remember Nathan from the eighth grade? He ran into me and confessed his undying love for me.' I narrowed my eyes at her. She giggled and continued,'I'm kidding. But he did kiss me.' She said as a blush crept up her face. The entire world knew that Nathan and Bella had a thing for each other in eighth grade but much to her dismay, he moved away, thus ending their so called love story.

'I wanna hear all about it.' I said as I dragged her into the building. We compared our schedules and I was grateful that we had both been assigned the same homeroom. I prayed internally and we made our way to class. Bella was telling me all about Nathan's kissing and I nearly gagged when she got to the tongue part. I pleaded her to stop before we settled down next to each other.

I quickly grabbed my phone to text my mother I was sorry for this morning. As I hit send, Bella let out a gasp and the entire class- or should I say, the girls of my class- sighed in unison. Apparently, when I was looking at the screen, I had missed the entrance of the godly being that entered the room.

Hello trouble.
