A week has gone by since that incident. No word from Hades either. If I know any better, he's avoiding me. Unfortunately for me, Bella has sensed that too.
I sat at my desk, leaning back into my chair. My iPhone's screen lit up, indicating that I had received a notification- a text from Bella. I ignored it because I couldn't lie to Bella anymore about why Hades was behaving like he was. My homework was finished five minutes ago. The warm weekend sunlight streamed into my room and a gentle breeze blew in. The fall weather was truly serene. I jumped when the silence was interrupted by my phone's blaring ringtone. Bella.
I decided to take a walk around the neighborhood. That's when I spotted a pile of very inviting leaves. I smirked to myself as I walked closer to them. I looked around to see if anyone was around and much to my surprise and content, there was no one. The entire street was silent. I squealed a little when I dived into the leaves. I didn't care that my hair was probably home to millions of bugs and I didn't care that a little bit of dirt had grazed my cheeks. A potpourri of rich scents filled my nose. The source was clearly the bushes that lined the street; adorned with flowers of all kinds. I lay there for a while and just stared up into the sky, beyond the naked branches. I realized then that people take so much little time appreciating the things that we do have. I was interrupted from my thoughts when a familiar figure passed by. She had brown hair and blue eyes. I cringed as I got up to see Bella storming towards my house and began running.
'Bells!' I yelled and thankfully she turned around. I pulled out the remaining leaves from my hair and waited for her to approach me. She was clearly furious. Actually, 'furious' is an understatement. She poked her index finger into my shoulder and pushed me back as she kept walking.
'You have a lot of explaining to do Anastasia.' She said, her tone deadly calm. I didn't blame her though. The past week had been weird. Hades did stick around with Bella and I but he never addressed me directly. In fact, he didn't even so much as look at me in the eye anymore. Bella knew something was up but I had always dodged her questions. I guess I pushed my luck. I let my shoulders fall beside me as we sat down on the bench. She refused to talk further so I just gave in.
'Okay.' I said and mentally prepared myself. 'HadesalmostkissedmeaweekagoandnowhedoesnteventalktomeandIdon'tknowwhattodoandIdidn'ttellyouaboutitbecauseyouandHadesweregettingalongsowellIdidn'twanttoruinthat.' I said very quickly. She narrowed her eyes at me, as if to say that she's not gonna accept what I had just said until I said it properly.
'Fine. I'll say it again.' I said reluctantly. 'Hades almost kissed me a week ago and now he doesn't even talk to me and I don't know what to do and I didn't tell you about it because you and Hades were getting along so well I didn't want to ruin that.' I don't look at her. I was afraid that she might not talk to me ever again. Her fingers pushed my chin up so my eyes met her's. I braced for impact. She laughed.
'That's why you didn't talk to me properly for a week?' She said with tears coming out of her eyes from laughing so much. 'Anna, you know that you're more important to me than Hades right?' She said, her expression turning serious.
I nodded and she pulled me into a hug. I embraced her contently and we both went to my house to watch a movie marathon of Harry Potter. My mom had given us ice-cream and the night couldn't get any more better.

I woke up next to an empty space. I closed my eyes again and mentally willed myself to wake up. I looked around the room to see where Bella. I spotted her inside my closet, getting ready for god knows what. I rubbed my eyes in an effort to see more clearly.
'What on earth are you getting ready for?' I asked her, placing myself on the small stool in the small space. She smiled at me knowingly and pushed me into my bathroom, telling me to freshen up. I groaned and brushed my teeth. Immediately after, I took my sweet time cleaning myself and enjoying my much needed bubble bath. I walked out with a towel clutched to me, my hair up in a bun. Bella was scrolling through her Instagram feed and she looked bored out of her mind.
'Why did it take you so long to freshen up A?' She said, pushing me towards the cupboards. 'No wonder the world is facing a water shortage.' She muttered under her breath. I smacked her arm to let her know that I heard her. I pouted at her and sat myself on the stool again, my legs crossed. 'Come on Anna, we need to move. We're already late.' She eyed me and then proceeded to say, 'And God knows how long it's going to take to get you fixed up.' She dragged me to my wardrobe again as I whined in protest.
'Where do we need to go Bells? It's like 1 in the afternoon.' I glance at my clock to check, and I was right. It was almost one. Bella just smiles and takes out a short black dress. It has a big bow in the middle and two strings at the back to tighten it around the waist. She hands it to me and leaves quietly. I put it on, knowing that she will strip me down and put it on me herself if I don't.
The dress, despite being very old, fit me perfectly. I tied the satin black strings at the back and let down my hair. It rolled out in waves and reached the end of my back. The hem of the dress brushed just above my knees. I called Bella inside again and she squealed with delight as she took in the view. I laughed. 'I'm guessing it looks fine then?' I say uncertainly. My hands fidget with the dress.
'You look beautiful A.' She says sincerely, her eyes supporting her words. Her fingers brushed through my hair and she applied a little liner on my eyelids. Apparently, a little liner goes a long way, especially when you have eyes like mine. The winged tips definitely made my eyes stand out. I thanked her and asked her why we were all dressed up. She just smirked at me and handed me wedges to go with the dress. 'We don't have time Anna, hurry up!' She urged. She practically pushed me down the stairs and shoved me into her car. I looked at her suspiciously as she got into the driver's seat.
'For the millionth time Bells, where are we going?' I said, my arms crossed. 'You know how much I hate surprises.' I told her as a matter-of-factly. She continued to ignore me and I didn't protest much. For all I knew, we were on a suicide mission for some random girl. After about fifteen minutes, we pulled up in front of the Olive Garden. 'I am not getting out of this car until you tell me what I am doing here at 2 o'clock on a Sunday afternoon.' I said stubbornly.
'You have a date!' She told me excitedly. My face turned pale as she continued to tell me how we were both about to have our first double date (or first date, in my case). I hadn't noticed her escorting me outside and into the restaurant. I realized it was too late to turn back around. God, I hated Bella. I scanned the room until I saw two familiar faces. I froze in my place as the gentlemen rose to acknowledge our presence.
