"Milly! Jace is here for you!" My mom called.
"Send him up! I'm not ready yet!" I yelled flipping my curls over my shoulder and quickly putting on mascara on both of my eyelashes. I had just finished my hair, and struggling to put on the rest of my make-up, plus the fact that I was still in my robe.
"Milly, babe! I'm here!" Jace called entering my room. I heard his footsteps across my carpet approaching my bathroom door.
"You can't come in!" I yelled. The movement stopped.
"Why not? I've seen you without make-up before."
"I'm not dressed." I replied.
"As in nude or not fancy clothes?" he chuckled.
"I'm in my robe."
"Where's your clothes?" he asked me. I locked up my make-up box and put it underneath my counter.
"On my bed I think." Once I heard Jace come back, I held my hand out the door for my clothes.
"Thank you!" I yelled closing the door. Quickly, I put on my clothes, thank god I put on my undergarments first.
"Milly, hurry up! I'm getting bored!" Jace whined through the door.
"Calm down, grandma. I'm coming," I told him walking through the door. Jace stared at me for a minute, while I put my shoes on, until he looked up at me and grinned.
"Do I look stupid?" I asked him looking at myself in the mirror. Jace shook his head.
"C'mon our families are waiting for us." He said taking my hand. Sparks flew up and down my arm. Ever since I realized that I liked Jace, I was extra wary around him. I didn't want my feelings to expand when he doesn't, or will ever, feel the same way.
We got to the last step and walked into the kitchen where mine and Jace's parents were. My mom was holding a pie, my dad a bowl of mac-n-cheese, Mollie, Jace's mom, had stuffing, and John, Jace's dad, had the ham. They all smiled at us, and Mollie and my mom sent me a wink after looking at our entwined hands.
"Stephanie! Look! They fell in love just like we planned!" Mollie cheered. My mom wiggled her eyebrows while our dads just chuckled. Jace pulled me closer to his chest and started to stroke my hair.
"Aw, yes. Darling, I'm afraid that we can't keep our relationship a secret anymore."
"Jace." I warned him.
"NOW I FOUND THE LOVE OF MY LIFEEEE...." Jace started to sing. I couldn't contain my giggles. You could never stop this boy from singing.
"PASSES THINGS, GET MORE COMFORTABLE."
"I knew your mamaw shouldn't have ever gotten you that karaoke machine," John chuckled.
"EVERYTHING IS GOING RIGHT...."
I clutched onto Jace's shoulders before I could fall onto the floor. "She likes men that can sing," my mom commented.
"None of her past boyfriends could make her laugh that hard." my dad echoed. This caused Jace and I to sober up.
"I think it's time to go." Jace smiled to everyone. We all nodded and walked out my front door. Every year, we go to Don and Donna's, the elderly couple across the street, for thanksgiving. They didn't have any kids since an accident had killed twins Donna was pregnant in. The couple that had 4 kids always went to one of their parents, so they were never around for this holiday.
Donna was waiting for us outside her door, she waved excitedly to our parents and then smiled when she saw Jace and I. "Look how much you two have grown!" She grinned.
