Chapter 16: Good Morning!

I woke up to Talia telling Derek and me that it's time to get up. I crack open my eyes to see her looking at us with a fond smile. I nod and nuzzle into Derek's chest more. She lets out a little laugh. That was enough for Derek to shot awake and on high alert. I could hear a little growl as he scans the room for any sign of a threat. Once Derek's eyes lands on his mother, he lets out a sigh of relief.

She looks at her son with a smile. I swear why is she so happy it's like three in the morning. "Morning boys!" She said cheerfully "we leave in an hour. So be ready "she said and Derek just grunted a response as he buries his head into his pillow once again. Talia just laughed and left the room. I know Derek's not a morning person so this should be fun to see what Derek's like with only a few hours of sleep. I got up and put on my comfortable clothes for the long plane ride a few hours ahead. I take a good ten minutes to get ready. Not wanting to take a long time, once I finish in the bathroom I walked out into Derek's room to see him still fast asleep on his back arms behind his head.

I walked over to the bed and climbed onto it. He didn't even stir which is surprising because when his mom let out a little chuckle he shot up looking for the intruder. He would be the worst guard dog ever. Geez So I climbed on top of him so that I had on leg on each side of his hips. I started to kiss him. Derek opens one eye to look at me. I smile at my handsome boyfriend as he sighs. "c'mon sleepy head time to get up!" I say with as much enthusiasm as I could muster up at the early hours. I watch as Derek shook his head and once again buried his face into the pillow I was using. "No." he said it was somewhat hard to hear what he was saying through the pillow but I got the gist of what he was saying.

I looked at the clock and saw that we only had 20 minutes left until we have to leave and Derek is still acting like a sack of potatoes. Like really dude, get your ass out of bed! That's when Talia came in when she saw Derek still in bed I could see that she went from happy to annoyed in like .3 seconds. "Derek Matthew Hale! Get your ass out of bed now!" She practically roared at her son. Derek sighed and rolled over once again, I know he isn't a morning person but geez this is getting to a point of insanity. "Derek don't make me call Paige," Talia said to Derek with an agitated tone.

Derek was sitting in a second. He gave her his famous Hale glare as he went to speak. "You wouldn't dare!" He says with a gasp. I chuckle at that. He sort of sounded like a girl. Within a second, I'm the one now receiving the all too famous glare. "I would too! Now get up we leave in 20 minutes! "She said leaving the room. Derek groans but does get up "why are you so afraid of your mother calling your friend Paige?" I ask my curiosity getting the best of me. "She may be my best friend but she can be scary as hell. She would probably accuse me of not wanting to see her. But that's not true I've missed her, we've been best friends since kindergarten. I just really don't want to have to see my ex Ryan." I sigh at his confession I look him in the eye, as he is getting ready. "Der. I'm going to be there the entire time. And if this Ryan comes we can tell him to fuck off together got it?" I ask chuckles at my comment. "Sounds good. Thank you for coming with us. It means a lot to me, I hope you know that. And I love you very much" I smile as he says that and Derek is finally in his travel outfit.

Both of us are just in some sweats and tee shirts. We grab our carry-on bags and head downstairs just in the nick of time as the rest of the Hales are grabbing their entire luggage and is being it to the car. Both Derek and I grab our bags, and put them in the back, and hope into the car. The ride to the airport wasn't bad. But the younger children started to get a bit jumpy in their seats and we are only driving still I don't want to know how they are going to be with the plane ride.

We got to the airport and got through security pretty fast it wasn't very busy at this time in the morning. We only had to wait a little bit before we have to board the plane. The ride wasn't bad the little kids fell asleep shortly after the plane took off, so it wasn't terribly noisy. Derek and I were playing goldfish. When I chose to make a conversation with him.

"Are you excited?" I ask as he looks at me. He sighed and looked back at his cards that were in his hands. "Of course I'm excited, it's just I know that it's going to be hard to leave again after seeing them after such a long time. It was really hard the first time leaving them." He said with a sad smile toward the end. "I know but you will have me with you. Plus remember that statewide tournament in a bit. Your old team will come down and maybe Paige can come too. "I say to him. He looks at me with a small smile. "Yeah I guess you're right," he said pecking my lips as the plane descends. I can tell Derek's nervous but I know he will be okay
