My day was ordinary. As usual. Until one customer came, that really caught my attention. I think he was in his late 60's. He had a happy face, a happy aura to be exact. He said, he will be graduating today. So I thought of it. I realize he was talking to his Lease. Today is the last day that he will be paying it. So I laughed. I know my reaction was late, but still we had a cheerful conversation. He had this smile that was contagious. So I returned it with the brightest smile I could give.
After paying his bill, he paused and stare at me. Slowly waving his hand to me muttering,
"So, babye na Ading. Okay na?" He said smiling sincerely to me. (Ading means, somewhat like referring to a kid)
I said yes, and returned his smile. He just nodded, and suddenly he paused again. And told me this.
"Merry Christmas. " He smiled again and leave.
At that moment, I thought about Christmas. The thought about it has been bugging me for hours. What was I doing last Christmas? The first thought that pops out in my mind was God, My Family. And then You.
Leaving home was my choice. And leaving all behind our memories was my last choice. Reminiscing those times, it was a bittersweet memory. But realizing that God has been so good to me. That feeling itself is priceless.
