Chapter 32 - Sparks

I was on a super long car ride and I thought, hey maybe I should pump out some chapters, and voila, that's how this double chapter special came about. Enjoy!

"So will you be staying?" Adam asked.
Rose didn't answer. She just kept eating her cereal.
"Will you? Will you? Will you?" Said Adam, while poking her head.
"Poke my head one more time..." she said.
Adam poked her head. She grabbed his finger and bent it in a painful position.
"You're such a weirdo." She said
"Ow, ow, ow!" Yelled Adam. She let go.
Adam rubbed his finger.
"So will you stay?" He asked.
"For now, I guess."
"Just can't stay away from me, can you?" Adam smiled.
"Psssh. You guys need all the help you can get."
"If you say so."
"So what are you going to do?" She asked him.
"What do you mean?" He asked. But he knew exactly what she was talking about. It was the question on everyone's mind.
"The two of us. We're not like the rest of them. We know what it's like to have someone else's blood on your hands. When the opportunity comes, will you kill him?"
"I have no idea."
"Like I said, we're the same. So whatever decision you make, I'll still stand by you."

"So, Adam. About this teleportation you can now do..." said Astrid. "I want in!"
"You do, huh? I remember when I asked to teach me the spark ball."
"So if you teach me how to teleport, I'll teach you the spark ball."
"Deal!" Said Adam.
They entered the training area with Adam barely able to control his excitement.
"So, the spark ball is a just compressed energy, and for you, that energy is fire and lightning. So you first form the two elements, then use your own energy to merge them and compress it into a ball. Then you keep feeding the ball energy, then you just release. Like a slingshot."
She demonstrated and blasted the head off of a training dummy with a small one. Hers was blue because of her ice powers.
"Hell yeah!" Said Adam. "Let me try!"
He charged one on his middle finger. It was very wobbly and he aimed at the dummy and blasted. Instead of hitting the dummy, he blew a hole in the wall.
"Watch it!" Said the annoyed voice of Superboy.
"I'll work on that." He said.
"Now, teach me teleportation." Astrid said.
"You just visualise where you want to go. Then exert energy."
"That's it?"
"That's it."
She closed her eyes and concentrated, then she wasn't on front of Adam anymore. She was in the kitchen. Then the TV room. Then the ceiling.
"This is fun!" She said. She teleported behind Adam then in front of him.
"Yeah, yeah, that's enough. Before you lose all your energy." Said Adam.
"This is so cool. Thanks Adam."
Adam groaned. It was always like this. Astrid was good at everything. At least she was much better than him at everything.

Saturday, the next day
Artemis walked into the cave and was greeted with an energy beam. She managed to narrowly dodge it. She notched an arrow and aimed it at the origin of the blast. She found herself pointing her arrow at Adam, who was panting. His hands were burned badly.
"What are you doing?" She asked.
"Gotta...learn...spark ball..." he gasped.
She noticed that there were multiple holes in the wall.
"He was at it all night." Said Superboy.
"I could barely sleep." Said Rose.
"One... more time." Said Adam.
He charged one up, but it blew up on his face and knocked him down.
"OK, sleep time." He closed his eyes and slept on the floor.
Just then, Batman's face came up on the computer.
"Team. There have been energy anomalies discovered in the Arctic." He said.
"Not the Antarctica again.". Groaned Zatanna.
"Your mission is to investigate these anomalies and report back. Batman out."
"Get up, Adam. We have our mission." Said Aqualad.
He groaned loudly.
Adam crawled into the bioship and slept on the floor, as they took of, tracking the anomalies.

Antarctica, again.
They landed in the thick snow, because the anomaly was near. It was cold, but everyone had  gear specifically for the cold. Everyone except Rose.
"I'm so cold." She complained. "I hate being cold."
"You hate everything." Said Artemis. "That's why we're friends."
"Finally, we land. I was tired of hearing Adam's snoring." Said Kid Flash.
"Shut it, Flashy Kid. Do you want them to see us coming?" Retorted Adam.
"They already know we're coming because of your snoring!" Said Kid Flash.
"That's somewhat true." Said Wonder Woman. But it was the Wonder Woman from Adam's dimension.
Everyone had their guard up. Before they could react, dozens of soldiers were surrounding them. The soldiers had the insignia of New Krypton.
"It was a trap." Said Robin.
"Nice observation." Said Wonder Woman. "Attack!"
The soldiers poured towards them.
Astrid attacked Wonder Woman, while the others attacked the soldiers.
Adam dodged some energy beams from their guns and kicked one in the face, then kneed another in stomach and slammed the last one on the ground. He was grazed by one of their energy beams and he backflipped away and found himself back to back with Rose.
"Well this Team never lacks excitement, I'll give it that." She said.
"You don't know the half of it." Adam said.
Astrid teleported behind Wonder Woman and roundhouse kicked her to Superboy who punched her into the snow.
They high fived each other.
Everyone was celebrating their victory, until they noticed a figure hovering over them.
"Adam, Astrid long time no see. You never call, you never write..." said Superman.
Seeing him again made Adam's blood boil. He realised that he wasn't that scared kid that had come into this dimension four months ago. There was no fear in Adam. Only anger. And bloodlust.
"Screw you!" Astrid shouted.
"Come down here, you bastard! I have a sword waiting here with your name on it!" Shouted Adam. His hair was on fire like it always is when he's emotional.
Superman just smiled, and cracked his neck.
"What do you want here?" Asked Robin.
"I've come to take this land for New Krypton. I planned to take out the remainder of the heroes on this planet. But I did not expect to find Adam or Astrid. That saves me a lot of trouble."
He fired some lasers from his eyes and everyone scattered. Adam lunged at him with a handful of lightning but he swatted him away and Adam crashed into the snow.
"You're not the one I want." He said. Robin and Artemis threw explosive projectiles at him but he didn't flinch. Zatanna cast a spell that made a chain tie him up while Superboy and Aqualad punched him. Astrid teleported to him and punched him and Adam teleported and hit him again, with his hand charged with electricity.
Superman's grunts of pains made Adam feel happy. He was channelling his hunger for revenge to make him stronger. He killed his dad, his mom, his mentor and his world. Without knowing, his Dragon Vision activated.
"Enough!" Said Superman. He grabbed Adam and slammed him into the snow. He threw Superboy into Artemis. M'gann mentally blasted him and took him few paces back. He recovered and shot his heat vision at her. Aqualad stepped in front of Miss Martian with a shield and blocked it. That didn't last long because Superman increased the intensity of the heat and it pierced through the shields and hit Aqualad and M'gann.
Adam sliced Superman in the chest and ripped his suit. He tried for another slice but Superman grabbed his hand and uppercut him.
As Adam landed on the ground, he felt scales growing on his right arm. The dragons were coming out.
"Come on. You need us. You can't beat him without us." Said the Phoenix Dragon in his head.
"No! We can beat him!" Said Adam. He suppressed them and the scales disappeared.
He looked up and saw Superman throwing away Kid Flash. While he was distracted, Astrid blasted him with ice and froze him.
"Didn't expect that, did you?" She said.
She went right in front of his frozen body and touched her finger at his forehead.
"Goodbye." She said as she charged a spark ball.
Just then Superman's hand grabbed her face.
"You're right." Said Superman. "I didn't expect that. But you're the one I want."
"Let her go!" Screamed Adam. He jumped to them but he was swatted away again, and he blacked out.
Superman smiled and punched the ground. The vibrations created an avalanche. Superman flew away with Astrid struggling as the Team retreated, carrying Adam's unconscious body.

Noooooo!!! Astrid!!! Not again!!! Sadly it seems the book is coming to an end. But do not fret(although I doubt anyone is fretting) I've started working on the next book.
