Chapter 18 - Taken

For the first time in forever, Astrid had fun. Robin made sure of that. He told jokes, made her feel welcome and showed her around. They saw the whole town and at the end. They zetaed into the base laughing and having milkshakes. Until they saw the base. The base was on fire, most of the walls were destroyed, and there was a flaming hole in the floor.
"This is exactly why we never leave Adam home alone!" Said Astrid.
"What happened?" Asked Robin. Astrid went over to the fire and touched it, then tasted her finger. "This is Adam's fire. Tastes like shit, but he likes it anyway. There was a fight here." Said Astrid.
Astrid put on her Dragon Vision.
"You have that freaky eye thing that Adam has." Said Robin.
"When our mentor, Ryder, sealed the dragons into him, Adam couldn't take all the power, so I had to take some of it. So we have all the same powers.
"Is this a scale?" Asked Robin. He picked up some kind of animal skin and showed Adam.
"Not good." Said Astrid."If he mutated this far, then it won't be long till he loses control. "
"Why?"
"The more power he draws from the dragons, the easier it is for them to take control."
"Well, I'm calling the rest of the team."
While Robin sent out a distress beacon to all of their teammates, Astrid looked around the rubble with her Dragon Vision. Then she felt the residual mystic force, and knew there was no one else who could have taken it. She would recognise that energy signature anywhere. It was the Collectors.
"Robin. I think this is more serious than we think." Said Astrid.
"How so?"
"Well for one, right now, all magic in this world is in danger."
"What the heck does that mean?"
"They call themselves the Collectors. Their purpose is to bring Trigon to earth, and it takes a massive amount of energy. Magical energy that they've been collecting for a long time. They must have sensed the big magical power dump in Adam and have come to...collect."
"The Team is on their way. Do you know how to find them?"
"Easily. I can smell Adam's energy from here."
After about five minutes of waiting, the team members started showing up, and as soon as all of them were there, they followed Astrid.
They jogged for about 15 minutes before Astrid came into a stop in front of a telephone box.
"Is this the place?" M'gann asked.
"Most definitely." Said Astrid. "It's as if they are trying to be found."
"So its a trap?" Asked Superboy.
"Hell yeah. But we have to save Adam." Astrid placed her hand on the telephone box and whispered some words. Suddenly, a purple forcefield formed around them. A light flashed and in that second, they were no longer on the streets of Happy Harbour.
