housemaid;ship; marter
summary; matt is a maid at his boss' mansion. he one night gets too into his boss.
third person point of view;
Matt sat alone at the dining table at one in the morning. His boss found Matt's stress amusing. His rude and ignorant behavior made sure Matthew didn't eat dinner. So, Matt sat and ate cold soup at the empty table. Tears dripped off of his chin and into his soup that he didn't want to eat. He stirred the broth around while he sniffled.
Matthew couldn't quit and his boss knew that. He gives Matt very little pay for being the only maid in the house. Matthew's bedroom is a walk in closet in the guess bedroom. He never usually sleeps anyway. At the time he was up now, he has to wake up his boss at two thirty for his horse runout.
Yet, his boss wasn't asleep. He heard Matthew's quiet sniffles from the lou in the first court of his house. His concern was suprising since Matt has never cried or has been caught crying. He didn't know Matt honestly cared about how much he worked.
Matt wanted to at least have a pillow to sleep with. His boss never appreciated his doings for the household. Matt sat with only a candle lit, waiting for the old clock to turn to two thirty. He didn't want to sleep in the shivering area he was given. He had a blanket half his size and when he washed it, he used a bathing towel.
The soup finally became sickening for Matt. He pushed it away slightly, loosing his hunger. His boss never offered food and told him he couldn't eat until he was properly finishing his chores.
Matthew makes twenty dollars a year from his boss. Matthew accepts anything he can get and sends it to his family. His mother had leukemia and was resting back at home after surviving. His pay went to her parents and siblings to help them continue their happy lives while he was dying in his.
Matt had worked for Carter for eight years. Matthew has lost over one hundred pounds from these eight years. He is left with a ninety eight pound figure. He never thought about what his life has become.
Carter comes in after the lou. He sees Matt sobbing vigorously into his arms that rested on the table. He did this for his family. He would work until he died for his family.
"What are you doing up, Maid?"
Carter's snarl to Matt made him feel ill. He sat up, trying to hold back his sobs.
"I didn't have my dinner."
Carter watched Matt grab the small soup bowl. Carter walked over to him. His pity for the sad boy was impeccably confusing.
"Why aren't you in your room?"
"My blanket is getting washed and it's cold in there." Matthew whispered, washing his full bowl of soup.
Carter sighed.
"You look tired."
Matthew shook his head. He wiped his eyes and dried the bowl. He took the damp wash cloth and applied soap to it. He washed his hands with the cloth.
Carter sat at the table.
"Make me food." Carter said.
"Anything you would like?" Matthew whispered.
"Make a cake. I want red velvet with chocolate frosting." Carter ordered.
