Author's POV
"Akimi, you will be working under Jini Hoshi," Gaara said, studying Akimi's reaction. They were in his office along with another Jounin Jini Hoshi, her new superior. "You'll be placed in his team called the KP."
"KP?"
"Right. Any objections?" Gaara asked her sternly.
"No sir! Uh, what do we do exactly?" Akimi asked.
Jini smiled ever so slightly. "Let me show you. Excuse us, Lord Kazekage."
"Of course."
Five minutes later.....
"We're going to be.....doing supplies and exporting work?" Akimi asked, confused. She did not expect this.
"Yes," Jini replied. "This is going to be our main job. Missions can wait. Lord Kazekage needs people like us to work some muscle and get the supplies and outside packages inside the village, safe and sound! So!" He stuck a finger right in her face. "Don't you dare say this is 'a job that only ninjas don't need to do'. Preposterous!"
"Uh right. What does our work cover?"
"Examining, checking for poison, bombs, strange tags, and the like. We have to make sure these items and supplies are absolutely harmless. The Kazekage doesn't have the precious time to look over these himself, so he has called us to do this glorious work for him!" Jini exclaimed before reverting back to his calm, sophisticated self. "Right. Let me hand you over to Pearl. She'll teach you how to handle this stuff. Hey Pearl! Teach Akimi the ropes!"
"Okay, Captain!" Akimi walked over to the orange haired girl who grabbed her hand and without wasting any words, she began showing her the entire process.
"So every day, we get exports from outside, and it's our duty to check them all. Captain Jini doesn't like it if you make even so much as a mistake, so be extra careful and check at least three times. That's what my grandmother used to say. 'If you think once is enough, slap yourself and check two more times'. Going on, after checking these items, we have to deliver them. We usually have at least six hundred boxes of supplies. And believe me, sounds like that's a lot for a daily amount, but when you are a dessert village, might as well get wha thou can get, right? As for the mail, the packages, and other non-supplies boxes, we usually have at least four hundred and twenty of those. Since our own greenhouse is unable to grow enough herbs and such, our medical teams often order ingredients from outside. They come in those green boxes you see over there with the number 58x9454. So when you check the boxes that have those numbers, stick them in that pile. Got it?"
"I think so," Akimi said, nodding.
"Great! Hop to it then!"
"This shouldn't be too hard," Akimi said, picking up the first box. "I'll finish this in no time!"
Two grueling hours later, Akimi learned checking, piling, and reading the packages and boxes were anything but easy. The checking was pretty hard, since Akimi had to even out her Chakra over the package. If she had too much Chakra, the cardboard box was ruined, beginning to crumbling due to her Earth Chakra and resulting in a super annoyed Jini. If it was too little Chakra she couldn't detect the item inside. Piling and stacking the boxes were alright, but in order to make sure which packed go with what group, she had to read the squiggly label that was difficult to read. Compared to the rest of the team, Akimi was slow as a turtle.
"Come on, newbie! Hurry up! It's almost noon, and you aren't even through with half of your pile!" Jini yelled.
"Yes sir!"
"None of us can eat until everyone is finished!"
"Did you put this package in this pile? That's wrong! Can't you read?"
"It's 11:54 now! I don't see your pile dwindling!"
"You're too slow! Pearl, Kui, help her!"
"Hai!"
Akimi watched in amazement as the Pearl and a pale-blue haired girl checked, read, and piled all the boxes in fluid, smooth movements. Her mouth dropped, and Kui snatched the last box from her hands.
"Done!"
"Good work everybody! Akimi, pick up the pace!"
"Hai....."
"It's lunch time!"
"Finally," Kui sighed, shoving the final box into a pile. "Let's eat."
"Um, Jini-san. What is our team name?"
"It was KP, Akimi," Jini responded. "Pay closer to attention. Now hurry up. We have deliveries this afternoon."
"Yes sir....."
