Author's POV
"I'm going after him!"Kankuro yelled, instantly running past the towers and gates and out of Suna. Akimi left her hiding spot and ran towards the towers. Maybe she could help!
She bursted through the tower's doors and instantly spotted Jini stand near the tiny windows. However, everyone else wasn't around. Maybe they had gone into hiding?
"Jini! Gaara's--"
"I know!" He bellowed, taking her back. Akimi maintained her silence, causing her captain to rub his face in irritation. "Sorry, Aki. I know about the situation, already. Baki-san has sent an urgent message to both Lady Temari and Konoha, alerting our problem. Right now, we, as the KP team, need to tighten up security, which means, we are all on ninja duty. Now."
"What do you mean, sir?" Akimi was more than confused. Everyone on the team was a ninja, for sure, but weren't they themselves civilians?
Jini sighed and beckoned her to follow him. They headed to the upper levels of the towers and into the lounge room. Everyone from the KP team was there, all wearing their usual uniforms.
"Akimi, I don't have a lot of time to explain, but know this: we aren't just a handful of mediocre ninjas assigned to a boring job as a checking all the delivers and mail that come in and out of Suna. We're a special unit team, hand picked by Lord Gaara himself. We do the most important work of all: protecting the village. Understand also, that we didn't bring you up in our team for nothing. Akimi, even though you're the newest member, I'm sure I don't have to explain this is a major emergency, right?" Jini confirmed, tossing her a uniform. "This is your own uniform. Put it on, and I can put you to good use."
"Hai!"
"Although it's a bit early, we need everyone we can get. You'll work with Yamu as patrol guards while the others are to stay inside the village to be at the disposal of others. Understand?" Jini yelled.
"Hai!" Everyone called to his order in one accord. Not a single team member looked worried or distraught. The only thing that ran through their minds was: protect the village.
The KP Team uniform was nothing more than a black collared-shirt and long pants. Also, as a custom among the team, it was a rule to wear their forehead proctors around their right arm in a symbol of loyalty and respect to Suna.
"Hey, Akimi. You'll need this!" Ling slapped her head lightly with a cap. Akimi grumbled, but when she had taken off the cap, she realized it bore the initials KP.
"Again, what does KP stand for?" Akimi asked. No one answered her, until Jini spoke up.
"The Khoatic Party," Jini replied. "This shows you're specifically on our team."
"Boss!" Kui cried out.
"It's fine. She's going to know anyways," Jini sighed. "The villagers refer to us as The KP. They don't know what it means, and as a team secret, only team members know. So don't go bragging it off it your friends."
"Okay," she turned away, but Kui seized her arm harshly.
"We mean it," Kui hissed angrily. "Tell anyone else, and I'll personally go after you myself. This is. Team secret."
"I know," Akimi shot back, narrowing her eyes back at Kui.
"Right. Get to work!"
"Hai!"
