Alice didn't dare to scream, she just waited until she finally hit the ground with a loud THUD! and as soon as she did, she noticed that there is a tunnel right in front of her, a one that was about a few inches lower than her own height.
"Ouch", Alice mumbled and stopped pressing on the spot in her chest that had blood dripping down it. Now, the blood almost stopped but it still hurt a lot during each movement that required changing the position of her arms a lot.
She started to feel a bit claustrophobic as the tunnel was very narrow and the dirt from the top of it crumbled onto Alice's head. There was lots of moist and it was irriguous.
As she slowly kept walking fear crept in on her as she thought about what awaits her when she returns up there, to Frank who was most certainly going to kill her in the most atrocious way.
She started to realize that she had made a mistake for believing that the two figures were her parents and that a man like that would ever keep his promise and she felt ashamed for being so naïve.
But she herself made a promise and a one that was the worst thing she could imagine.
"I'd rather die than have all of those innocent people get killed because I hate being an orphan", she mumbled to herself, under her breath as the path narrowed even more.
She had a strong feeling that the people who were supposed to be killed weren't the only ones on Frank's list, but she also knew that he would do it himself if he had to, no matter who wanted to help him or not.
Patrick can't hold on for too long, he isn't strong enough.
"I can't believe that I'm about to say it but I'm glad Patrick's dead", she whispered, "because now Frank won't be able to kill him".
As she thought about it she felt strong gratitude for Patrick's sudden wish to help her as she didn't understand where it had come from nor why he would want to be of any help to the girl he'd only seen once in his entire lifetime.
Or is it deathtime?
Alice closed her eyes for a second, but that was a big mistake. There was a hole right in front of her and she hit her leg so much when she fell down that she had to cry out.
She could feel that she was sitting in something sticky so when she lowered her hand to feel it, something else grabbed hers and pulled her so she let out a scream. She was pulled in a laying position and she could feel something crawling up on her, hands grabbing every inch of her body.
Those were all dead bodies that moved around her as if they were slugs.
Alice tried to move, kicked something but a leg showed her and an arm pulled her down with a lot of strength. Her face rubbed into somebody else's. A one that belonged to a dead body. A one that had the odor of the most disgusting thing... It was like the smell of a dead rat and rotten flesh, but much worse.
Alice pushed herself up, kicked around her as much as she could and she was soon enough crawling back through the hole, using bodies as steps to climb up.
When she finally exited, she backed off on her knees in a terrified manner, looking back at the hole as if she saw someone follow her, but there was nobody there. She was safe... For now.
She got up, stumbled and then ran and she soon enough saw the tunnel widen and a speck of light appear in the utmost darkness.
Alice ran out of the tunnel into some kind of a huge "under-room" that had a coffin in the middle. She could see that the coffin was open so she slowly went up to it and when she saw decaying flesh and bones on something that used to be a man, she started crying.
"It's over. I've missed my chance", she cried out, but suddenly, the body rose from the coffin and the neck made a turn that looked as if it was going to snap any second. The head rocked back and forth and soon enough fell off.
Alice let out another scream as the head rolled off towards her.
"Sorry about that. Happens sometimes", it said and Alice was even more terrified so she closed her eyes and started sobbing.
The body slowly got up from the coffin, put the head back on and said:
"Why are you here?"
