When Alice woke up, she saw that she was still in the car and loud sirens could be hear all around, yet she couldn't see much from where she was crushed by the weight of the ceiling of the car so much that she could barely breathe. There was this horrible smell that Alice yet hadn't encountered, as if it was iron mixed with something so stinky and awful, something like death and when she managed to slip beneath the crushed car parts onto the car floor where her legs used to peacefully rock back and forth, she could see something so scary, so awful that, later in her life, forever stayed carved into her mind. Her mother's mouth was wide open, blood dripping down her cheeks, her eyes were wide open and were never to close by her will again and she had a huge hole in her stomach that had a puking odor.  Her hand was laying lifelessly by the side and it was gently brushing Alice as she was trying to get out, screaming, crying. Suddenly, there were loud voices, bangs, crashes and the door next to her opened, an arm started to remove everything that was on top of her and soon enough, she was  out on the fresh air, her chest free to move up and down as much as they needed to. She couldn't walk by herself, she felt numbness in her legs and when she looked at her arms, she could see that they were covered in multiple wounds, some in which shattered glass was buried deep enough for it to be barely visible.  "The kid is alive!", somebody yelled and then suddenly, she was picked up, placed on a gurney and at the last glance of her car, she could only see that the front of it was completely pushed back and  that her parents' bodies lay lifelessly, crushed by the weight of the glass and other car parts. She wanted to wail, cry, scream, yet nothing came out of her mouth and the next moment, somebody pushed a needle in her arm, telling her to stay calm and then everything went perfectly dark again...

"Both of her parents are dead", a younger police officer with long blond hair tied up in a ponytail approached his colleague who was looking at the scene with his arms crossed on his chest.  "Yeah, that's pretty obvious. Poor kid, boo-hoo", he said in somewhat of a mocking voice. "The bodies can't be pulled out of the vehicle", again tried the younger officer, as he was hoping to get his fellow officer to help the others, yet he was as stationary as a building. "Do I look like I care? You take care of it, I'm going to handle the paperwork later. Just go ahead and get those bodies out as quick as possible. There's already so much traffic behind, we don't want innocent people being late because you're not capable of something as simple as this". The younger policeman, officer Green, breathed in and let out a long, sad sigh. Then he approached the nurses  that were still there in case there is hope for the people still in the ruined car. "What's going to happen to the little girl?", he asked quietly, so no one else could hear him as he didn't want to seem upset or moved by the girl's unfortunate destiny as he was.  "She's going to have a foster family, probably someone she already knows. Grandparents, aunts, I don't know. Or people in the will of her parents, which I doubt even exists. They look too young to have thought about death".

"She is so young, isn't she?"

"Who, the girl? Yeah, six years top. Younger, maybe".

"I hope she gets into a good foster home". The nurse looked at him with a raised eyebrow.

"Since when do you care so much about the victims?" Officer Green again let out a sad sigh.

"It's just... It must be so hard for her... She might end up having some lunatics for parents when she could have had a normal life, only if this accident hadn't occurred. What's the girl's name?"

"Alice Dickens". He nodded, engaged in his own thoughts and then slowly walked away and continued helping the others remove the bodies.  I really do hope she's going to be okay , he thought, taking a long last look at Alice, the cutest red- haired six-year-old he had ever seen. I'll remember her... I might be able to help her one day.
