Chapter 2

I woke up and rubbed the sleep out of my eyes. I looked around the room. There was a window behind my bed that the late afternoon sunshine was showing through, dimly lighting the room. The walls were red and black; the carpet and the furniture were while. The bed frame of my bed was black and the comforter set a deep, elegant red.

I looked over a digital clock that sat on the bedside table. It was 6:00 PM. I rolled out of the bed, made it back, and then left the room. I didn’t know how to get around the house, but I heard voices down stairs so I followed them.

I walked down a set of stairs to a big open room. In one half of the room is the entertainment things like their TV and what not. In the other half is the kitchen. The guys are in the kitchen cooking. I slowly and quietly walk down the stairs and over to where they are. James notices me and says, “Hey Sleeping Beauty.”

“Oh hey Adelaide! Are you feeling alright sweetheart?” Logan asked walking over to me. He pulled me into a side hug and then felt my forehead with the back of his hand.

“I wasn’t, but I’m better now,” I told him.

“That’s good,” he said with a smile.

“Guys?” I say getting everyone’s attention.

“Yeah?” they all say in sync.

“Never, and I mean never ever use my full name. I’m Adele, or Addie,” I tell them.

“We can do that,” Kendall says.

“Can we give you nicknames of our own?” Carlos asked with the goofiest expression ever.

“Maybe,” I said.

Kendall patted the empty seat next to him at the table for me to sit down. “So since you were kind of just passed out earlier we haven’t gotten to talk about anything important. First off, your name-thank you for telling us what you prefer to be called,” Kendall said with a smile. “Second house rules.”

“What rules?” Carlos asked.

“Wait we actually have rules around here?” Logan said sounding very surprised.

Kendall rolled his eyes, “Yes we do. Rule number one, do not give this address to anybody,” Kendall told me. I kind of giggled a little bit, why would I do that? “Second rule you have free reign on the house, we want you to feel at home here, but don’t go through our personal stuff, okay?”

“I think I got it,” I told him smiling. “Why on earth do you think I’d give this address out?”

“I don’t, I just don’t want to move again because of fans…” Kendall said trailing off.

“You know how they got your address last time Kendall?” I asked smirking at him.

“No not a clue,” he said.

“You put your personal number on YouTube. People used the area code to find the specific part of the city you lived in and then narrowed your house down by one of two methods: stake-outs in your neighborhood, and or hacking into the local real estate company’s database,” I replied.

“How do you know that?” James asked me.

“I’m not saying that I did that, but I know some crazy Rushers…” I say.

“Yeah, you do,” Logan agreed. He came up behind me and pulled my chair away from the table. “Want to tour the house?” he asked me.

“Can that tour start by you guys telling me where the bathroom is?” I asked with complete seriousness.
