Cora's POV

It's the day after Tyler and I's moment, and I went to bed with a smile.

I get ready for school. When I walk out my door I spot Tyler walking out of his.

We meet eyes and look away quickly. After a night of gushing over our kiss, it is kind of weird seeing him.

We meet up on the sidewalk, "Hi." I blush, and look down. "Hi." He says back just as quiet.

"Um, Tyler. About last night-" I look up and see his expression has changed.

"You regret it don't you? I knew you would. You were just trying to save our friendship. I'm sorry. I didn't mean for you to feel pressured into making decisions like this. We can go back to normal, and I won't mention the kiss ever again. Just please don't play with my emotions."

He looks hurt and lost. "Tyler, that's not what I was going to say."

"Oh." Is all he says. I can tell he will try not to talk until he understands what I mean.

"I was going to ask what does this make us? What does the kiss make us?" I fidget with my bracelets as we walk to school.

"Um. Well what do want it to make us? I have never had an actual girlfriend."

I take a second to think, but I already know what I want.

I grab his hand. He looks down at our hands, then at me.

"Tyler, will you let me be your first girlfriend?" I bite my lip worried slightly of what he might say. He doesn't seem the dating type. More like friends with benefits type.

"You aren't doing this just because you want to save our friendship, right?"

" right. I want to be more than friends."

He looks in my eyes. Making sure I'm telling the truth. I can tell he has trust issues.

He squeezes my hand letting me know that he wants that too.

We get to school, and everyone is looking at our entwined hands.

Tyler looks nervous.

Tyler and I don't look like the typical couple.

I bring him closer, and hug his arm, and resting my head on his shoulder.

I see Britney at the end of the hall, and she sees us. Now I feel nervous.

She storms over. I try avoiding her by going down a different hallway, but tyler doesn't move. And doesn't let go of my hand.

"She is just a mean girl. Show her you're not afraid."

I look in his eyes, and that gives me comfort.

I look back at Britney, who is now standing in front of us.

"So, what? You guys are like a thing now? That's a little bizarre, don't you think? The schools bad boy, and the schools happy rainbow sunshine, goodie goodie." She laughs in our face.

"Hey, Britney don't you have other boyfriends to steal?" I say.

"No, just yours. Because you can't give them what they want." She grins.

I try not to let that get to me. "Well you can't have this one because he's a keeper." I smile, and that makes her mad.

She is mad that she's not getting to me. "Well... you can have him. I have Zack. He is way better, and cooler, and..." She begins, but I pull Tyler along and leave her there with her attempt at hurting me.

When we are out of that hallway, Tyler asks me, "Why does she hate you so much?" I shrug. "She has always hated me." I look down trying to hide how I feel. "Well, she is just jealous that you can get all the boys, and she has to take them to bed first. And besides, I would never leave you for her like Zack did." He says comforting me.

"Thanks Tyler, but I know you did sleep with her. You were quite the man whore back then." I laugh.

"That was before I changed. I wanted boost my manliness by sleeping with the 'most popular girl in school.' But later I found out she's a Bitch." He says and I gasp.

"Tyler. Don't call her that. Sure she is mean, but no need to call her bad names." I cross my arms. "What. You don't swear?"

"Of course not! It's bad for your health." I frown. "Ha. Says who?" "Says me. No swearing."

He laughs. "Cora, you're in highschool. I think you can swear."

"I will when necessary. If I were to swear all the time, it wouldn't mean anything, but if I were to swear at the right time it would really mean something." I say.

"You make a valid point... but swearing is so fun though." He says and walks away, so I can't respond with a come back.

We spend the rest of the day making sure people know we are together to prove that the rumors are true.

Zack didn't seem too happy about it, but I'm not worried.

School ends and we go to my house. " When will you ask me out on a date?" Tyler asks?

"What? You're the dude. You should be asking me." I laugh. "Well don't be so steriotypical. You can ask too." He pretends to pout.

"well, yeah. I could..." I turn around and face him. He is waiting.

I roll my eyes and let out a big sigh. "Fiiine. Tyler, will you go on a date with me?"

"Hmmm. Tempting, tempting. But where are my flowers?" He puts his hand on his hip with attitude.

I laugh. "Okay, I'll get you flowers. But you have to choose where we are going."

"I still haven't said yes." He says dramatically.

"Fine, play hard to get." I say back playing along with our sterio typical gender swaps. I walk away.

He catches up. "Okay, okay I'll go out with you. But you have to choose the place."

"Tempting, tempting." I mimic his words.

He picks a a twig full of red and orange leaves. He hands me the 'flowers'.

"Fine." I say.

We reach our street and say out goodbyes. When I close my door I squeal.

I think we are going on a date now, but I got a little lost in our strange conversation.
