I wake up at noon as scheduled. Today is my date with Zack! I make sure my soccer bag is packed and I have some money for ice cream later. I also make sure my soccer ball is polished and pumped up. I want my soccer ball to be pretty so when I kick the ball in the net my ball can look good doing it. I put my hair up in a high pony tail and by the time I'm all done with my prepping, it's time for me to head out.

***************

"Hey Zack!" I shout to him across the field. " Hey Cora. Ready to do some soccer." He smiles when I get to him he is finishing tying his shoe lace of his cleats. (Soccer/football shoes)
"So, what are we gonna practice on?" I ask. Pulling my pretty soccer ball out and dropping it on the green ground. "I was thinking we should have you shooting at the goal and I be the goalie. So I can learn to block your hits. You know it was kind of embarrassing to beat by girls." He elbows me, putting on a big grin. "Well maybe girls are better than boys." I joke along with him. "I am no boy. I am a full grown man!" He shouts with his fists on his hips, and chest pop out. I laugh at his broad chant. He laughs with me.

****************

"Alright shoot at me." He pats his chest like donkey kong and stands in a squatting position with his eyes on the ball that is right in front of me.
We have been playing for at least 3 hours now and he is a little riled up since I have scored many goals on him. I get into my game mode and get into ready position.
I fake a left motion and kick to the top right corner. He stumbles a little to the left before jumping to the right, missing the ball by an inch and falling into the slightly wet grass. I jump up and cheer of victory.
He gets up. "Cheater." He grumbles. "What?" I laugh. "You're just jealous that I'm a better soccer player than you." I tease. "Pfft. No I just tripped over my shoelace." He bends down to tie his already tied shoe. "Yeah. Sure. That has been your excuse for about 6 times now." I giggle.
"I have been playing soccer forever. How do you get past me so many times. I mean I catch some of them, but you get some past me." He adds in just to keep his manly idea in his head. "Well you're not the only one who has been playing their whole life. My dad taught me at a very young age, I have been stuck to that black and white ball ever since." I say looking down. "Well your dad taught you well. Maybe he should teach me." He jokes. I laugh nervously and look away. He doesn't know about my dad.
"Well like I said, girls are better than boys." I laugh. "I thought I told you. I'm a man." He grins.
"A girly man." I laugh.
"Oh now you're gonna get it." He gets up and charges at me. I scream and run for my life. I may be better at soccer than he is, but he is definitely faster than me. He catches me in seconds. He tackles me from the back and grabs me by the waist and he falls on me face to face. He stays hovering over me. We are both a panting mess. He looks at me.
"What." I ask looking back at him a little nervous. I mean don't tell me you wouldn't be nervous under your crush. "Your eyes." He looks deeper into them. "What about my eyes." I smile a little and blush. "I never looked at them like this until now. They're the most beautiful brown eyes I have ever seen." He says still looking deeply into my eyes. I blush even harder. How is that possible. I never liked my plain brown eyes. I don't know what he sees. "I-" before I can finish he presses his lips on mine. The heat of my cheeks aren't nearly as hot as our kiss.
I wish I could take back my first kiss in first grade with my first crush, Tim. This kiss could make me forget every kiss I ever had. He pulls back and looks at me.
"Now what were you gonna say?" He asks. "Uh, I uh. I was gonna say we should get our soccer cones, uh... Ice cream balls, I mean ice cream cones. We should get ice cream cones. Like we said we would." I blush a little more if possible. I was so dazed after that kiss.
He just laughs. He stands up and extends an arm. I take it and he pulls me up. We gather our soccer stuff, put on some regular shoes, and head to A&W.

***************

When we reach A&W we notice how sweaty and stinky we are but we don't care we are just so hungry. We played until the sun set. I down order a vanilla ice cream cone.
"I would like an ice cream ball." Zack tells the lady behind the desk. She looks confused. "Stop that." I punch him on the shoulder. He laughs then orders a chocolate ice cream cone.
We sit down and chat about the big science test coming up. I didn't want to talk about the kiss. It was amazing, but I wasn't ready to know if it meant anything.
