RPOV

I stifled a yawn as I unlocked the door to my apartment. By the time I got inside and threw my keys on the counter, the yawns were unstifleable and I was openly yawning. I grabbed some leftovers from the fridge and threw them in the microwave, refusing to sit because if I did I was going to pass out.

As it was, I was almost falling asleep on my feet. The beeping of the microwave woke me enough that I was able to finish eating before getting my pajamas on and passing out in my bed. For once, I was glad Dimitri and I had separate apartments, even though we rarely occupied both at the same time. Knowing myself, if he'd been here when I got home I'd have stayed up all night with him, tiredness be damned.

----

After what was surely hours, I woke to the smell of aftershave, strong arms wrapped around me. Ah, so he'd stopped by after all. It was mornings like this that made it all worth it. Everything I'd been through in the past year and a half was worth it.

Despite knowing it would wake him up, or possibly because of that, I shifted slightly in his arms to brush a stray lock of his hair from his face. I was right, he woke up, slower than I would have expected. Once he was, he smiled as he looked at me. "Roza."

"Hey, Comrade. I didn't know you were stopping by, I would have stayed up."

He shook his head, "That's why I didn't tell you. You needed sleep."

"So people keep saying. Oh, right," I continued, seeing the confused look on his face, "Lissa gave me today off, saying I needed to rest. Which I'm okay with. She just has a bunch of meetings today. More stuff to try and remove that stupid law."

"Funny, Christian gave me the day off as well. He said he would be working with the Moroi today, so he'll be with plenty of Guardians."

I grinned, "Well then, I guess we can just lay here for a while. Since we have no place to be."

"Mhm." Dimitri returned my smile, pulling me nearly on top of him. "That is something I can do. But first,"

He moved out from under me, getting out of bed despite my protests. Of course, those protests turned to gratitude when he returned with a box of chocolate donuts. I grinned as he returned to his spot, "You really do know the way to my heart."

He chuckled, "If all you need is donuts then half the court knows the way to your heart."

I resisted slapping his arm, "Well, the donuts is only half of it. The other half is them being delivered by a hot Russian. Of course, you could argue that half the Court also knows that. Probably more than that, really."

Dimitri smiled again, "Oh, Roza."

I grinned as I took a bite of my donut and snuggled closer to him, reveling in the moment.

It was hard to say how long we laid there, just talking and laughing. It was probably the most peaceful either of us had been since Russia, which was nearly a month ago. And even that had involved a Strigoi attack. But there was no talk of Strigoi today. Not even talk of guarding. It was just us. He was still trying to convince me to marry him, but I was firm about not getting married until I was at least twenty. It was one of the few ways our age difference complicated our life. He was ready, but I wasn't.

"Alright, how about a compromise?" I asked, finally.

That got his attention. "Okay, go on."

"If you wait until I turn twenty to actually  propose to me, I promise we'll get married before you turn thirty."
