Pregnant in the Apocalypse

"Their here..." I said leaning over to Zach as he loaded his gun.

"Samantha... I love you" he said as infected broke threw the sliding glass doors.

"RUN!!!" he yelled as we both ran towards the front door.

Right when we exited we hopped in the old red Chevy truck that we had stole from a house a few blocks down the road.

"You drive to the house and I'll focus on them!" I shouted as an infected grabbed onto the tailgate. "Time for a ride" I said to myself as Zach speeded up to 90mph.

After, just about 4 seconds the infected's arm tore off and he went flipping down the hill. "We lost them finally" I said as I turned around to face Zach and lay my head on his shoulder.

I kept thinking about 'how did I come to have such the perfect guy?' He has the dark brown hair that always flows perfectly. He has crystal blue eyes a round face with dimples. He had grown to be 6'1 while I was stuck at 5'5. During the summer he always had that perfect shade of tan and his freckles would even darken. We'd known each other since we were 5 and 7 and know here we are 23 and 25. Today was January 1, 2016 and it was our 2 year anniversary of us being married.

"Today is our anniversary" I said as Zach kissed me on the forehead. It had already been 26 minutes and we were pulling into the driveway of the house that seemed the safest for us to stay in. It was a 2 story cream colored ranch house with the whole perimeter fenced.

The apocalypse has been going on for 4 years and we were amazed we could actually make it this far. If I didn't have him by my side I surely wouldn't have made it.

"Maybe I can give you a present tonight." Zach said as he opened the car door and smirked.

Walking up to the door I realized I needed to figure out what we are gonna do with our family. We had always talked about maybe some day having kids but we were always scared because of the infected. The pregnancy would slow us down, what would we do when the baby arrived. All I knew was that I did not want to have kids in our situation. But... That didn't mean I couldn't have a little fun!

1 Week Later.....

I woke up to the smell of eggs bacon and pancakes in front of me on a tray. When I sat up I realized Zach had been gone for some time cause the food was a little chilly. When I went to pick up a piece of crispy bacon I noticed he left a note.

'Sorry if the food is cold when you read this. I had to make a run to help Gunner up at his barn, one of the cows were giving birth and he needed someone to watch. I also found out his wife left him and she left their daughter Celia. Got to go I'm in a rush but I wanted you to know! Love you P.S. I really enjoyed last night!'
