Pregnant in the Apocalypse

Chapter 4

Guys ok so it's been a long time since I've updated so I wanted to try to update a little more then usual starting know... Who knows if it will last!

It's finally summer so maybe since I don't have school I can get more things done which I will try working while I'm at the beach so whenever we aren't doing something I'll work.

I woke up being nudged by one of the men tied next to me. While I was trying to sleep I had caught that his name was Caleb and his friend that he had been hunting with was Gunther. They were hunting and had been on their way to the city to find parts for a boat they had hidden away. The girl that was on my right was Sally. She had perfect beach blonde hair with silver eyes and freckles all over. She had cuts all over her, the worst was on her side, which was revealed through a torn part in her shirt, which had been from the vultures whipping her when she tried escaping. Sally definitely look like she had been through a lot; she was strong, but so young to be alone.

The guy Caleb that nudged me noticed that I finally woke, so I looked around and noticed nobody was there.

"They went off for more supplies so we have time to plan and learn about each other." Caleb said as Gunther woke up.

"What's your name girl?" Gunther said while yawning.

"My name is Samantha most people call me Sam though. I grew up in this town... these people used to not be so rough..." I said as I felt the tears fall, I just hoped that Zach got back to Gunner and doesn't search for me. if anything were to happen to him I would kill myself.

"Well hello ms. softy" Sally said as she started to roughly get up pulling her rope upwards until it latched on to my rope and she plopped back down with a grunt.

"It's Sam and she hasn't been here as long as us so give her time miss Boothe" Caleb said with a small laugh him and Gunther both nudged each other and laughed.

"Well first I'd like to say I want out of here and quick I say this post is in loose soil so we should be able to yank it out, with it being out and it being light weight we can head to the bunk they have in the corner. Their should be some sharp object to get these off but unless you have a better plan I suggest you get to tugging." I said as Sally looked over to me with her mouth gaping open.

"So I maybe ms. softy but I go for what I want without hesitation."

After, maybe 10 minutes we had pulled the post out and had the weight distributed towards Gunther and Caleb so they held it up while we searched.

It took awhile but I finally found a rusty pocketknife. Most of their rope had been rotten from being through so much so they had cut theirs and before they got me untied. Men came rushing in with large trucks loaded with supplies. Some men weren't in vehicles so they rounded us up and made sure we were secure yet again.

After, they finished unloading the man that seemed to be in charge came over and slapped each of us with his belt right across our faces.

"No food for them tonight" he announced while he opened a bag with pickles peaches and a sandwich. He had a man get him a metal cup and fill it with water.

I could tell they hadn't had a good drink in some time cause he chugged it. They had been doing some killing their seemed to be fresh blood on some of their shirts.

While I watched him eat I started feeling nauseous then I threw up without warning and it just barely got on my clothes cause I had stayed in a position with my head between my legs.

"Are you pregnant?" Sally whispered to me. "I noticed you had a little weight on you but overall you were slim except the front on your stomach."

"I can't be I took a test and it was negative besides I don't need to worry bout things like that my husband is missing me anyway." I said quietly and a tear slid down my face.

One of the men noticed and slapped me across the face. "Somebody get this cleaned up" he yelled which I cried even more. "Girl you better settle down or your gonna be hurt worse and I'm not afraid to" I sniffled as he said that and he all of a sudden grabbed me by my neck pulling me upwards almost to the point where I wouldn't have been able to touch the ground with my feet. He pulled his belt from where he laid it and swiped it across my face three times before somebody handed him the whip. When left stripes of blood across my legs arms and my stomach.

All I knew was this had been the worst thing I'd been through in a while.

"When do you think she'll wake up, Caleb?" Gunther said as I heard his head make a thud against the post.

"She's waking up!" Sally said as all them were turning their heads toward me I sat up from leaning on Caleb's shoulder. "You've been out for three days."

"How?" I said as I looked around the perimeter noticing their was a second post right next to ours with a little girl tired to it she had rope burns on her wrist from struggling I could tell. She was asleep but she was adorable she had to have been 10-11 but she could of been younger.

Sally noticed me staring at her and nudged me.

"We couldn't get her to say anything, we don't know her name or anything but she looks maybe 11" Sally said as men came walking in.

After, listening to the men talk I figured out that they were planning on moving out heading somewhere else. We don't know if they would leave us here and have the infected get us or if they would take us. Why would they need to keep us anyway, why hadn't they just killed us when they found us. I had plenty questions answered and unanswered. But, what I had started to hear will help everybody.

When Sally, Gunther, and Caleb had finally woke up I was able to tell them everything since I had stayed up.

"Ok guys I know what their planning on doing. They have a navy ship coming in that's gonna hold us on it and take us to safety. They have everything we could possibly need but I'm sure we all have somebody that isn't here that we'd need." I said as everybody stared at me with confusion.

"They would never make it where you could over hear them. I think they planned for one of us to listen, cause this all doesn't seem right." Sally said as food was brought to us.

But, as I was eating I looked up and could see where I had been standing watching into the perimeter when I had been with Zach.

Which as I looked closely I could see Zach watching and waving his hands in the air. He noticed I could see him and held up a white sign that said "I WILL GET YALL OUT, GUNNER IS HELPING PLAN!" as I read the words a smile grew on my face but soon disappeared as I thought about him risking everything just to get me out. They could kill him.
