Chapter 5. Surprise! (Part One)

CHAPTER FIVE

Janelle's POV

"Where's everyone?" I asked Giovanni who was still holding my right hand in his. Looking around, you can see that the Conference Room was completely deserted and it is eerily silent. It was obvious that no one was here, and the lights were also dimmed.

I thought there will be a meeting with the leaders of the other packs?

Maybe he took us here to show us how much he loves us, my wolf said while giving me mental images of our mate... naked.

I tried my best to just ignore Isabelle. I'm still a little annoyed at her, because of the stunt she pulled just a few minutes ago. After I regain control of my body, she is purring happily in my head, and completely relaxed. I, on the other hand, am extremely nervous. I didn't know how to face Gio after what Isabelle did. Thankfully, Giovanni just took my hand and walks to the Conference Room silently.

Isabelle is acting really weird for my liking. I am having trouble trying to understand her and her motives. I mean, just two months ago, she's determined to break Gio's heart, saying that we didn't deserve this kind of treatment. She pleaded with me then! She says that she wanted everything to end. But now.. I'm not really sure if she still want to do that or not. It seems that she loves the attention she's getting from our mate. So, I made a mental note to myself to never give her control of my body again. Ever. Or else... I don't know what might happen.

I was pulled out of my train of thoughts when Giovanni suddenly releases my hand. I frowned, feeling cold at the loss of contact. I was about to speak when he suddenly clapped three times. Then all the lights went off.

It took my eyes a few seconds to adjust at the sudden darkness. Still, I found nothing besides Gio. He took my hand and led me to one of the chairs. Then, the projector was switched on (by I don't know who) and a face suddenly shows at the big screen in front of us. It's like we're watching a movie at the theatre. However, that's not what shocked me.

Staring at the screen, I saw Sophia grinning. "Hi Alpha, Hi Luna." she said, waving like a maniac.

Is this live or what?

Feeling stupid, I waved back and whispered "Hi".

Giovanni laughed at me.

Why is he laughing at me?

I turned my head to glare at him which made him laugh even harder.

My gaze softens at the sound of his laugh. I stared at him in awe. When did I managed to make him laugh? Never! Well, this is a first. No. Actually, this is the second time. The first time was when I bumped into a wall. Still, I'm glad I made him laugh.

"It's recorded," he said in between his laughs.

My mouth formed an O shape. Completely embarassed, I turned back to look at the screen while blushing to see Marco with his arms around Sophia's shoulders.

"Hello Alpha! And happy birthday Luna." Marco said, smiling.

I gaped at the screen. What? Happy birthday?

Is it my birthday?

Giovanni confirmed my questions when he flicked my nose with his index fingers while saying, "Happy birthday Janelle."

I almost smacked myself in the forehead. How could I forget my own birthday?

Because you're stupid, my wolf said, sneering.
