"I'm back!" Dusty called out as she walked back to the camp with pieces of wood in her hand. The skrill got up and wagged his tail as he ran up to her nudging his head at her greatfully. "Haha, hey boy!" Dusty laughed. She walked past the dragon and put the wood in the fireplace. "You mind boy?" Dusty asked pointing at the fire. The skrill gurgled as he sparked the wood making it into a fire. Dusty smiled and petted his side, making him look at her while smiling.
Dusty and the skrill both sat down around the fire, the skrill had his wings around the fire making it grow bigger while sheltering it from the wind.
"Say, I should call you something, shouldn't I?" Dusty told him looking up from the ground. The skrill tilted his head in confusion. "I can't call you, like, Skrill or Boy all the time. Now can't I?" Dusty chuckled scratching her jaw. The skrill then did a low rumbling sound, as if like he agreed with her.
"Well, what should I call you then?" Dusty asked him, the dragons spikes shot up as he looked at her in surprise. "Yeah that's right, I'm letting youself pick your name!" Dusty laughed as she poked the fire with a thin pointy stick. The skrill cooed at her and looked away, as if he was thinking. He rumbled as he walked away from his position and looked at Dusty from afar.
"What is it?" She asked putting the stick down and getting up. The dragon roared calmly at her, he then lit himself on lightning and shot a beautiful white lightning bolt towards the sky. He flapped his wings and his wings had little spark bolts on them.
"Whoa. That's like you striked for it! Striker." Dusty shot up. "How about that, Striker?" Dusty asked him. The skrill roared and calmed the thunder around him. He nodded at her as he did a gurgling noise. Dusty then extended her hand towards him, he walked up to her and out his snout on her hand. He then nudged his head at her with a curious growl.
"Oh yeah! I'm Dusty!" She introduced herself looking at him. Striker gave her a weird look. "Haha, it means Thor's stone! Matches, huh?" She chuckled as she pointed at herself. Striker rolled his eyes and shifted his head curiously, he sniffed her and licked her hand in appreciation.
"Haha.. thanks buddy." She said rubbing the top of his head. Dusty suddenly looked at his back, his spikes were down and harmless. She walked towards his back where there was a big space between two spikes. She looked at Striker with unsure eyes, Striker returned the stare, as if he knew what she was going to do, but instead he bent down a little.Dusty looked at the dragon in confusion but stuck with it, she put her hand on his back slowly, seeing if he'd react. Nothing. She then put her other hand on his back and lifted herself up on him, his scales were hard and rough but they were also soft to touch at the same time.
"Whoa." She awed at her being on top of a dragon. Striker spines suddenly shot back up, he grumbled and was walking towards a huge spike of ice. "Woah... easy boy!" Dusty exclaimed in shock, she quickly held on to one of his spikes as he climbed up the huge spike and was at the edge when they arrived at the top.
"Whoa..." Dusty's eyes widened as she looked out at the horizon, the sun looked very beautiful when it was setting. The wind blew gently around the both of them, the smell of the ocean filled Dusty's nostrils as she sighed. Striker did a gurgling noise using his throat as he looked behind him to stare at Dusty with trusting eyes. Striker then suddenly opened up his wings and spread them out.
"Uhh, Striker? You're not doing what I think your doiiiii-" she got off by her own scream when Striker flapped his wings and took off into the air. Dusty hung on tightly to one of his spikes as she kept screaming. Striker roared and quickly stopped flying up when he was just above the clouds and then calmly glided across the clouds. Dusty's eyes were closed and she was breathing in and out, she then noticed how calmly Striker was flying so she opened her eyes and she saw something she'll never forget. The clouds were glowing in a pink, yellow and orange colour, the sky was a dark colour but it was still beautiful looking. Dusty looked down over her side and she saw the clouds, she even caught a glimpse of the ocean below her, there were even Thunderdrums and Scauldrons swimming in the sea.
"Striker, this is awesome! And beautiful." She laughed at herself for saying that word and looked down at Striker. He looked back with a toothy grin and did a quick turn to dive down. The wind went on her face as Striker dived down near the ocean, he then stopped as soon as he was flying on the surface of the ocean. The tips of his wings had lightning coming out of them as he accelerated when he flew back up and did a loop."Striker, you are amazing." Dusty petted the side of his neck making him look up and smile. He flapped his wings fowards, he then suddenly started to growl as he looked left (like the gif above XD).
"What is it boy?" Dusty asked looking the direction he was growling at, it was a huge island. But there were houses and what looked like a dragon killing arena. She recognises them from her own village tribe where they use to capture them. "Easy boy." She reassured him by petting his head, his spikes shot up making Dusty retreat her hand. His bottom spikes started to wiggle non-stop as he looked towards the island.
"Hold on boy, maybe they can help." Dusty said petting his side. He growled at her in disbelief, suddenly a bunch of dragons started to fly away from the island carrying animals and even dead vikings. Dusty breathed in in horror as she saw the sight. Striker suddenly started to fly away but Dusty stopped him by pointing towards the dragon killing arena.
"Wait, look down there." She said looking at a bunch of viking going against a Gronckle. "We can't stay up here, someone will see us, lets go down and see what they really do." Dusty guided Strike down, he did not sound very pleased by going down there but he trusted Dusty. He gently flew down and landed on the edge of the island near the killing arena."Thanks buddy, stay here. Stay well hidden.." Dusty ordered him as she sneaked away from him and walked up towards the arena. Dusty then quickly peeked up and saw the vikings running everywhere aroundthe Gronckle, hitting their axes on their shields and yelling dragon facts to each other. Dusty groaned as she saw the horrible sight, Striker started to growl uneasily in the background as he looked around him. "Easy buddy. It's okay." Dusty reassured him as she kept looking at the vikings. One young viking in particular was very hesitant to attack the dragon, he nearly got shot by it but what looked like the teacher.
After a few short minutes, the young boy started to walk away and he was heading towards a forest. And he was holding a fish. Dusty immediately grew curious and quickly ran back to Striker.
"Come here boy, we're following him." Dusty announced as she whispered to him. Striker gave her a wary look and grunted at her. "Yeah I know, but did you even see him? He didn't want to attack that Gronckle." She told him as she mounted him or his back. The skrill sighed as he started to walk forwards where Dusty guided him.Dusty dismounted her dragon as soon as they came to a huge cove.
"Ugh, we lost him." Dusty groaned as she scratched her head in annoyance. Striker yanwed as he went into a sleeping position. "Tired already? Jeez.." Dusty then decided to sit at the edge of the Cove and looked around. Suddenly she heard a crack coming from a tight corner of the Cove, she quickly bent down and hid. It was the boy.
"Striker, he's here." Dusty whispered to him. Striker growled and decided to come and check it out. He suddenly began to growl. "What's up?" Dusty asked. She then looked down and saw the boy confronted by a huge black dragon. Dusty couldn't believe it, it was a Night fury. "Whoa, I thought they were all gone!" Dusty exclaimed in shock, "But what in Odin's name is he doing?" She asked. Striker subsided his growl and stared quietly at the two. The boy looked quite terrified but he was showing the dragon his fish, the fury walked slowly towards him but immediately growled him loudly. The boy knew what he meant and threw his knife away into a little lake nearby. The dragon then sat down and his ear twitched. The boy extended the fish and the dragon slowly walked up to it and took it from his hands.
"Is he trying to befriend him? Why isn't the Night fury flying away though?" Dusty asked at Striker, the skrill roared at her and pointed at the Night Fury's tail. One of his fins was completely cut off. "Oh gosh, the poor guy."Striker then looked back and nudged Dusty too look. The dragon had pushed the boy on a rock and had given him a fish where he ate it. The boy then suddenly got up and was about to touch the dragon but it ran off and made a little sleeping place.
"Whoa, know this boy is a special viking eh?" Dusty sniggered as Striker hit her head with his tail as he bent down. "Okay okay, we can go." Dusty laughed a little as she mounted him as nd they both flew off back to their island.
