 Hiccups POV

It was hot. No. It was boiling. No. It was like the sun was shooting balls of fire onto the world and everywhere was on fire. I decided that today would be a day for a break seeing as no body would want to do work in this kind of heat.

"We should have a beach day!" Fishlegs cried and everyone agreed. I, however was apposed to the idea but I didn't want anyone to know why so I just agreed and we all headed down to the beach. When we got there I laid out a towel and got out a book and began to just doodle random stuff in the book. Toothless, Astrid, the gang, dragons, anything really.

I heard everyone in the water playing around and I desperately wanted to join them but I knew that if they saw me they would treat me differently and I really don't want that. 

"Hiccup! You should join us!" Astrid called. My heart stopped.

"Uhhhh... I'm good thanks and anyway I'm not too hot." I quickly lied but I knew she wouldn't buy it so I just looked down and tried to think of something to convince her that I was fine.

I looked up and suddenly the whole gang stood in front of me some with confused faces, others with hands on their hips.

"Get in the water." Astrid commanded.

"But I would have to take of my shirt." I tried.

"I don't care. If you stay out here you will overheat and get heat stroke or something." She explained and I agreed with her but I really didn't want them to see what I was hiding under my shirt. Astrid grabbed my hands and stood me up. I looked at her with a confused expression but then I noticed that the twins were no longer standing there. I suddenly felt a breeze along my back and I realized I was shirtless. Everyone gasped.

That's when I started to cry. My eyes began to blur and all I saw were the people I have known all my life, stand in front of me, there jaws slack as they finally saw my shirtless body for the first time. I broke down. I just fell to my knees and curled my limp body in on itself.

"Hiccu-" Astrid leaned toward me but stopped when I said

"It was my dad." I could feel their eyes burning in on me.

"He was never happy when he came home from a day of cheifing and he always so me as a- a-" I let out a cry. "A punching bag" I let a few sobs escape before I just lay there and listened to the waves crash against the bank.

No one's POV

No one said anything. Astrid's eyes filled with tears and she reached down to her best friend. She touched his back and he looked at her with eyes that shattered her very soul into tiny shards. He looked at her with the eyes that made you see the cruelties that life could give. And this poor poor soul was just the universes doll that they played with for pleasure.

Astrid was ripped from her thoughts when he spoke again but very softly.

"It was always funny, when people would tell me to go home or tell me that I needed to go inside because people thought that inside my own house was safer than being out in the dragon raids."

The rest of the gang looked down at Hiccup. Hiccup was brave, loyal, loving, caring compassionate and he was the one that saved their asses multiple times. They saw this boy as the boy who also gave and never took and to see him here. The bravest one of all,

On the ground, shaking with fear and sadness.

It shook them to their cores.
