We got farther away from the city, but it was hard because of the abandoned cars in our way. From time to time, we would have to move some of them.
We were finally out of the city after a while.
"Where are we heading?" I asked, hoping to get some information.
"We're headed to our camp. We'll be there soon." John says, from beside me.
"What happened, really? Why did the city look like a ghost town?" I tried, asking again.
"It's best we explain everything at the camp." Reyes tells me.
We stay silent for the rest of the way to the camp. I notice that Jules still won't look at me.
Suddenly a memory flashes.
Flashback...
"Sir, we need the results of the test from the lab before we give him the serum." A female voice says.
"We don't need them. Now, get Jack to ready the serum." A man with a deep voice replies.
"But sir, we don't know if he's strong enough. He may die if we give it to him without preparing him first."
"If we don't do something, he will die. Do as I say or I will have you removed."
End of flashback...
