So, this episode is apparently after Bada-Bing Bada-Boom... I didn't know that when I wrote it, so the whole thing got a little mixed up. I soon realized I didn't want to skip something in that episode and so this one needed to happen first. Oh well, it doesn't change anything in the overall arc I don't think. Have fun!
Two days later, my time without powers was up. I never realized just how much I relied on them until I couldn't anymore. Soon after was the end of the soccer season, meaning a whole shebang for the team. As I sat between Kitty and Evan, as far from Scott as I could get, we watched as Principal Kelly introduced Jean as the MVP. I cringed at Evan's whistle and leaned closer to Kitty.
Jean began her speech and I listened with rapt attention, so I noticed when her facial expressions changed into confusion and she paused. She started looking around at our group and then the entire auditorium and that's when I knew. Her mental shields weren't high enough to block out the thoughts of those around her.
Thinking quickly, I threw my mental presence out there in attempts to drown out the other's voices. 'Keep calm Jean, It'll be alright. Just finish up the speech and get off stage. I'll block them out for you.' As soon as I started projecting, she seemed to calm down some, the flood of voices lessened by my mind. Quickly, she finished her speech and walked off stage. I let out a sigh of relief as I watched her go. This wasn't going to be pretty.
"I just think it's unfair is all," Even began as he, Kitty, and I walk out of the school. "Girl, I'd cinch an MVP."
"Evan face it," Kitty responded, "Skateboarding will never be a school sport." I noded along with her.
"It's true, man." I told him, "It just doesn't seem like something a school would do."
"We're living behind the times, man." He told us as he walked away. Lance came up behind us immediately after and offered her an escort to class. She followed, leaving me alone. Shaking my head, I walked by myself to my next class. I'd have to remember to tell Pietro about his teammates little crush and how he acts, there was some hope for him after all. Later that night was a party that I was not invited to. Not surprising considering my age.
For once, my family was home so I was there for the night, practicing with Nat and Clint as soon as I got home. We spent hours in the gym catching up with everything and training. I lasted 10 seconds longer with Nat in hand-to-hand, something I am quite proud of.
As we walked out of the gym, Clint threw something practically in my face. Catching it, I saw it was a Cell phone, one of Stark's new models, not even out in stores yet. "What's this for?" I asked him. Curious as to why he threw it to me.
"As we are gone more often than not, it seemed like a good idea to get you your own phone so you don't have to keep borrowing your friend's." Nat explained. I nodded.
"I thought we were going to wait 'till my birthday though."
"If you want, we can give it back..." Clint started.
"NO!" I was just curious, that's all." I hurried out.
"Well, we kinda thought, why wait? We just thought you would like to have it now." He told me. Smiling, I gave them both hugs before running off to my room to get changed and take a shower. After I got ready for bed, I typed in Kitty's number, something I had memorized the day we met, and sent her a text.
R: Guess who just got a phone!
K: Who is this?
R: Raven. Dad just got a phone for me 'cause they are gone so much.
K: Oh. OMG you will never guess what Rouge did!
R: What???
K: Well, she went to the party with her new friend, right?
