The first thing I did when I got back to the mansion was a training exercise with the newbies. I guess I'm technically a newbie too, but even I have more training than them, even though I'm the youngest. As of right now, Kurt, sorry, Nightcrawler, was playing the victim and we were all running through rescue protocol. I guess I couldn't complain much, it would be useful to learn. I made it through my run, no problem. Used my telekinesis to lift the rocks off of him and carefully move him to the basket, strapping him in. After me was Tabitha, err-Boom Boom.
From the start it was a disaster. She had her headphones in instead of her com link. She didn't take this seriously, something that really bugged me. She practically flew down the cliff side on the basket, then started flirting with the victim. For once, I was on the same page as Summers, she was really ticking us off.
Then she goes and blows up the rocks on top of him, with no regards to how the pieces could fall or anything else for that matter. Oh, and kicking an injured victim into the basket, nice move. I had hoped she would have realized her mistake when NC 'fell' out of the basket because she forgot to strap him in, but no. She had to go and do something stupid like rocking the basket and blowing stuff up.
Suddenly, Kurt hits his head on the cliff and falls down, unconscious. Thinking quickly, I grab him before he moves out of my range and let him hover. I called down to Summers, "Hurry and do something, I'm not going to be able to hold him forever." Summers looked down at the rocks below and blew them apart. I slowly lowered NC down into the water, dropping him the last couple of feet as he fell out of my range. Wolverine then jumped into the water after him to keep him from drowning, pulling him to the shore.
I watched with hidden glee as Tabitha and Kurt got their punishments. Kurt not as much as Tabitha, in my mind, they deserved it. Tabitha did something incredibly dangerous and Kurt encouraged it. I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket so I pulled it out as I walked to get changed into my normal clothes. It was from Pietro.
P: Oh My God, these guys are pigs! They're even worse than Wally after a mission!
R: Ewwwww. So glad I'm not with you. Though some of the people here are starting to get on my nerves.
P: Summers?
R: Actually, not today. We agree on something for once, the total irresponsibility of one of the newbies.
P: Hua. Ughhhh there's nothing to eat here! Well, for me. Toad is eating flies... again.
R: Not something I needed to know, 'Tro!
P: At least there is some humor in watching the others try and get into mystique's bedroom. Toad keeps bouncing off the door, it's pretty funny.
R: See you at school.
P: Later Rae.
I had this conversation while getting changed and ready for school, walking out the door, and into the car. Looking up, I saw that everyone was watching me. I glared at everyone. "What?" I asked.
"You seemed relaxed for a bit. Not as tense as you usually are here." Jean said. I sighed.
"I was just texting someone, it's nothing." I said as the car started up and we started on our way to school. Tonight was the night of the Carnival that the school is using as a fundraiser to fix the gymnasium that we destroyed.
Walking down the hall, I sighed as Tabitha placed a spark in the locker tumbler. I continued to walk even as I heard the explosion, only pausing when I heard Kurt begin to speak. Great, that is going to turn out so well, I can tell.
