HeartBreaker - Chapter 5 Rewritten

Marinette couldn't help but reread the note throughout the day, even as she walked down the school corridor. Not watching where she was going she bumped into someone she wished she didn't.

“Ugh! My outfit, watch where you are going Dupain-Cheng!”Chloe's obnoxious voice snapped her out of her dream like daze and back to reality she went.

“It was a mistake Chloe, I was just - ”She didn't even let her finish, she was too busy dusting off her outfit as if Marinette had somehow made it dirty.

“Sabrina tell daddy I need a new outfit, this one is ruined!”She glared at Marinette before stomping away, Sabina on her heels trying to calm her down. Marinette glared back at her as she walked away she sure knew how to ruin a girl's day.

“Marinette hey, are you okay?”Luka appeared seemingly out of nowhere, she was always happy to see him, he was such a sweetheart and her mind always wondered back to the day he was akumatised. What he said to her was unforgettable.

“Luka?”She smiled at him as he came towards her. “What are you doing here?” She asked as she hugged him.

“Juleka forgot her lunch, I had to bring it for her. Wouldn't want her to starve. ”He said calmly, he was always such a calm person, she liked that about him.

“You're such a good brother Luka, I wish I had siblings of my own when I become scatterbrained and forget my lunch. ”She said with an easy laugh.

He watched her life with such adoration she thought her heart would stop. “If you want, you can always forget your lunch and I can bring it to you anytime you want. ”The sincerity in his tone made her freeze, a blush creeping up on her cheeks.

They were both unaware of an unexpected spectator. Adrien sat across from them, his phone in hand. He had wanted to step in when Chloe almost ruined Marinette's mood but he was too late, somebody else had swooped in. He watched them talk and it didn't take a genius to realise that the two had chemistry. Was this the love trouble that she was referring to? Was Luka somehow making her sad? It couldn't be Luka but what guy was stupid enough to break Marinette's heart?

His phone pinged and a notification popped up. He refocused his attention on his girlfriend immediately.

Kagami: You busy tonight? I wanna practice fencing before my big match. (smile emoji)

Adrien: Sorry, Kagami. Already have plans, how about right after school?

Kagami: Plans with who? Your father confirmed your schedule is clear tonight Adrien. (sad emoji)

He froze, what was he suppose to say to that? He didn't want to lie to her but how would he explain it without exposing his secret and he couldn't very well bring Kagami along as Chat Noir. Marinette was also expecting Chat Noir tonight he couldn't come as Adrien and disappoint her like that, he was just her friend and classmate he couldn't do anything to soothe a heart broken by another.

Adrien: Yeah uhm Nino needs something, he needs some help.

Kagami: I know he'll understand, this is really important Adrien.

Adrien : I can't disappoint a friend, I'm sorry (sad emoji)

Kagami: But you can disappoint a girlfriend.

He almost dropped his phone as he reread her message over and over, she really wasn't happy with him. He couldn't help but think Ladybug would have understood.

Adrien: Kagami? I'm sorry

Adrien: Kagami come on.

She wasn't going to reply anytime soon. Plagg peeked out from his jacket, noticing the change in mood. “You okay there kid?”Was he okay? He nodded slowly not sure of his answer.

In the streets of Paris a girl stood in front of her best friend, tears streaming down her eyes onto the letter she had written for him. He tried to explain himself but the heartache was too much, too loud, all she could hear was her loud heart threatening to burst out of her chest.

“Maya, I'm sorry. I love you but -”She was already walking away, her negative emotions awakening a villain in his lair. Butterflies flapping their wings all around him as he grinned, setting his sights on the girl.

“Unrequited love can be such a heavy burden to bare. ”He palmed a butterfly, turning it a dark purple colour. “Help her share the burden, fly away my little akuma and evilise her. ”

The butterfly flew into the skies of Paris. The girl, Maya, held a pendant in her hands. A picture of the two of them smiling and grinning as kids, it broke her into more and more pieces to see their closeness. The butterfly took an opportunity and flew into the pendant.

“Hello HeartBreaker, so he chose another over you. The streets of Paris are riddled with happy couples, something you will never have with your beloved. I give you the power to destroy their unwanted love, make them speak your truth. ”The girl accepted with a devilish grin, transforming into a costume with a red frilly skirt, black see through stockings, a black tube top and her skin was painted with black and red broken hearts. Her hair in two puffs, with the ends of her black hair painted red. Her makeup and the staff she held followed the same theme.

“All I ask is Ladybug and Chat Noir's miraculouses in return. ”Hawmoth said as he watched her plot in her mind.

“Yes, Hawkmoth. ”

Adrien made Kagami a but upset, oops.

Will Adrien figure out whether or not Luka is the idiot that broke Mari's heart?

Will our heroes make it on time for their date or will HeartBreaker seize her moment?
