Your P.O.V
You didn't know how you got there in the middle of a big city, but after you left the mall, you let your legs take control and ended up in the middle of a park big enough to have a forest. After running as fast as you could on pure adrenaline, you collapsed on the ground.
How?
After weeks of running across the country, how did they find you?! They were drunken and hungover, which meant they slept for days!!! It wasn't much, but it still gave you enough time to flee! All of your tracks were covered with great care!!
How were they even smart enough to find you?
You laid on the grass. The only thing you tried to focus on was your breathing.
A breath in.
They couldn't have had the time to follow you.
A breath out.
You ran once again. But why haven't they followed??
A breath in.
Why is it that every time something good happens, they have to ruin it?
A breath out.
You laid there, looking up into the sky. Half of the sky had bright sunshine and a deep blue sky. It calmed you down and relaxed you, but not completely.
In.
The other half, the roar of distant thunder loomed ahead. Dark looming clouds rolled over, taking away every ounce of sunshine.
Out.
And hope.
The sky was a perfect representation of the life you lived. Around the corner in each day, somewhere in the world you lived in, an awful storm brew. And even though there is always sunshine, it was so scary in the rain. It was cold and wet and alone.
Darkness was always there.
Suddenly, an image of Stanford glided through your mind. His crooked smile and the way his eyes sparkled when he talked about science. (That was almost all you heard on several occasions) The way he seemed to care for you...
A sharp breath in, a gasp.
You froze.
He... He made sure you were safe when sleeping one night. Went out of his way to make sure you were comfortable. Each time you fell or needed help, he was the first one to burst through the door.
There was no way...
Was there?
The part that you really couldn't believe was the fact that it had only been two weeks. Both of you barely knew each other, it seemed like. Then again... It felt like you lived your whole lives together. You were very comfortable with him.
You sighed.
A sense of dread filled you as needles pricked your skin.
They were still at the mall, and you were lost.
You jumped up and ran into the forest, retracing your steps back to the mall.
