Human Gabriel was needy, and that was putting it nicely.
Since Gabriel was your angel buddy, and by that you meant you had this little girl crush on him and he liked to flirt with you, the boys thought you'd make a great babysitter for him when he lost his grace.
At first it seemed easy, then Gabriel started eating his sweets and nothing else so he go sick. You had to help him through that and explain to him that his childish ways wouldn't be good as a human. Then you had to stay home with him on hunts because he was pretty much useless without his grace. However, he still managed to set up some pranks and you'd have to find them before the boys got home so they wouldn't be mad. Then there were his nightmares. Your room was right next to his, he often woke you yelling or talking rather loudly in his sleep. You'd always go to check on him from the doorway, the poor guy never got any sleep.
"Y/N?" Gabriel's voice brought you out of your thoughts.
You and him were the only ones home and it was getting late, his eyes showed signs of exhaustion.
"Yeah?" You said turning to look at him.
"I'm going to bed," he paused as if he wanted you to say something. "How do you escape the nightmares?" Gabriel asked looking at you like a scared little boy.
"I..uh, I don't really. But when I was little my mum would sing me to sleep, it gave a sense of safety and comfort and those nights I slept fine." You smiled at the found memories of your childhood.
Gabriel nodded and thought for a moment and then walked away. He hadn't been his usual flirty self since he lost his grace, instead he turned into this self conscious person who put himself down a lot.
-----
It had been about an hour since Gabriel went to sleep, maybe he'd get through the night."Help!" Gabriel's voice rang through the bunker.
You ran up to his room. You knew it was a nightmare but you wanted to help him so much.
"Gabe the babe, you okay?" You asked as you sat next to him on his bed.
He only nodded, but his body was trembling and he was in fetal position.
"Gaberiel, seriously, are you okay? I want to help you." His whiskey eyes finally came to meet yours and you could have sworn they were wet from crying.
"Just a bad dream, I'll tough it out." He said turning away from you.
You waited a moment trying to gather up some courage. Finally you moved, now you were fully on the bed and very close to Gabriel, who was still trembling slightly.
Gabriel turned, "What are doing?" He asked with that dumb grin of his.
"I'm going to help, now shut up and lay down." You said seriously.
He did as he was told, only he turned and his head was now laying on your lap.
You ran your fingers slowly through his hair and began to sing the song your mum sang to you when you couldn't sleep changing certain lyrics to make it about Gabe.
Hey Gabe, don't make it bad
Take a sad song and make it better
Remember to let her into your heart
Then you can start to make it better.Gabriel's body stopped trembling.
Hey Gabe, don't be afraid
You were made to go out and get her
The minute you let her under your skin
Then you begin to make it better
