ACT IV.
I streched out over the tangled black sheets below me. Beside me lay Armitage's sleeping figure, his face serene and peaceful for once. His breathing was slow and steady, indicating he was still fast asleep.
The way his chest constantly rose and fell calmed me. It showed me he was still alive and breathing. Not suffering on his own where I could only watch from a distance.
I started detangling myself from his arms as he began to stir in his sleep.
"Don't go yet," he whispered, his voice sounding groggy from sleeping.
I sighed, letting his strong arms wrap around me again. His hair was a complete mess, a nest of ginger on top of his head. I probably did not look any better but I couldn't see myself after all.
His eyes fluttered open multiple times before eventually closing again. He looked beautiful like this. No stress, no anger written onto his face. I snuggled up against his chest, hugging his waist tight.
"I'll stay for a little longer," I whispered into his chest, his black shirt muffling the sound of my voice.Ren, Hux, Phasma and I were all stood by the front window in the control room. It was time to evaluate a new plan for us to follow, new orders to take from the Supreme Leader. His hologram was set up in the middle of a round table, the tall sitting figure hovering above its survace in a bright blue colour.
Ren no longer wore his helmet and neither did Phasma.
They must've lost them while I was out, I thought.
I already knew the features of Ren's exposed face. He looked a lot like his father.
His features were a bit sharper, though. Darker, if you will.
Phasma was something else entirely. Her light blonde cut short hair was swept back and her face carried tomboy-ish, yet hauntingly beautiful features. She wore the same First Order uniform I wore, only it was graced by more badges than mine. Standing beside her I felt small and intimidated, her being the same height as Ren. Ren was stood on my other side, dark hair flowing around his head, angry eyes fixated on the Supreme Leader's hologram.
Hux was reporting our current status to Supreme Leader Snoke and he did not seem very happy about the failure of the Starkiller base. I could tell that Armitage was already blaming himself for it again. Even if he didn't seem like it he wasn't the type of person to blame everything on others. He'd rather blame it on himself.Armitage was wearing his greatcoat overtop his usual uniform, showing off his rank to his subordinates, including me.
The Supreme Leader's voice barked out commands in a slow and painstaking way, his voice slightly distorted by the hologram.
"It will not be long before the Resistance finds your hideout and attacks again. We need to strike back in a way that will make them want to stop fighting for their foolish beliefs. The failure of the Starkiller base cannot be pardoned in any way-"
"Supreme Leader, I take full responsibility for everything that-", Hux began but was interrupted by Supreme Leader Snoke, "GENERAL. The death of Han Solo has already made them weaker. They are vulnerable, just as you said. But we need to act. It won't be long before Skywalker returns, training a new generation of Jedi. We must prevent this at all costs," the Supreme Leaders voice roared. Even if his hologram was small, his voice still delivered the power he carried, the wisdom he had achieved."Yes, Supreme Leader," Armitage's voice spoke, firm and submissive to the Supreme Leader's orders.
The hologram shifted, now facing Ren.
Meanwhile, Armitage took it upon himself to stare off into space, expressionless, but still present, listening to the conversation the Supreme Leader and Ren were leading.
"Kylo Ren, your training is now finished. By killing your father, you showed that the dark side in you is stronger than the light. You shall finish what your grandfather started."
Ren's mouth turned up in a sickly, almost sad, smile as he declared, "I shall, Supreme Leader."
With that the blue light of the hologram vanished, sparing Phasma and I of having to talk to Supreme Leader Snoke. In all honesty, I was glad about that. The four of us distanced ourselves from the round holographic table, separating as we neared the control panels, leaving Hux and I together, while Phasma and Ren went their separate ways.
The orders were quite clear: Destroy the Resistance and prevent the Jedi from rising again, whatever the cost.
