Lexa POV
We headed to the Brew House café, spending the short walk discussing classes and campus life, which was new to both of us. When we got to the Brew, we grabbed a table by the back corner.
I loved the Brew House. It had the perfect late-night-conversation kind of vibe. From the eclectic art hung on the walls, to the colored string lights decorating the ceiling, to the shelves of free books lining the side walls--just good vibes in general.
The waitress brought us our orders – Clarke, a chamomile tea, and me, a medium coffee. I leaned over my mug and blew on the coffee to cool it down. I could feel Clarke's eyes on me the whole time.
"Too hot?" she chuckled, taking a sip of her tea.
I glanced up at her. "A little," I played along, narrowing my gaze softly.
She smiled into her lap. Sitting across the table from her, I got this strange stirring feeling in my stomach. I didn't want to admit that I thought Clarke was beautiful. That wasn't a part of the plan. But then again, I didn't plan to feel the way that I was feeling for her now.
Clarke POV
"So, why art?" Lexa leaned back in her chair and crossed her arms.
"What, do you I strike you as a sociology major or something?" I laughed.
"No, but you don't strike me as the kind of girl who attends a lot of frat parties."
"Well, when one of the top dogs at Sigma Alpha is your cousin, you have a duty to uphold."
"Who's your cousin?"
"Bellamy Blake."
"Wow. I didn't know I was in the presence of royalty, Clarke," she smirked.
"You may call me ambassador," I played.
"Ambassador? Well, Ambassador Griffin, it's an honor and a privilege to be in your presence this evening."
"Pleasure's all mine," I smiled. "You're a very lucky peasant."
Lexa released an amused scoff. "Oh, and why's that?" She leaned forward and rested her elbows on the table.
"Because now you have connections to the throne. You get a VIP pass."
"And what does VIP get me?" she said, her gaze not breaking from mine.
Her stare pierced me intimately. For a second, I was so lost in her features that I couldn't find anything clever to say back.
"It means, um," I tried to collect my thoughts, "it means you get your own folding chair beside us at the bonfires."
"A folding chair?" she swooned sarcastically. "Do I get my own koozie too?"
"Let's not push it."
We both laughed at that. Then Lexa paused for a moment and started analyzing my face. "Now that you mention it, I can see the resemblance."
"Really? Bell and Octavia have dark hair and I'm blonde so no one can tell usually."
"Your chins are all the same," she mused.
"Our chins?"
Lexa leaned in closer and lightly stroked the space between my chin and my lower lip.
"The same weird little curve," she admired.
The grey in Lexa's eyes glistened in the low lighting and reflected the colored lights strung above us. The splashes of color danced across her irises and radiated a brightness that contrasted the dimness of the cafe.
