Chapter 3

“So, what are we going to do?” I asked him as he led me down the street.

“Well, I was thinking of something a little less normal than most,” He said.

“Like what?” I asked suspiciously.

“Take out on the beach,” He replied. At least it was a warm day. I smiled and followed him out to the restaurant. We just got burgers and stuff and then had to find a way to get to the beach.

“We could take the bus,” I offered.

“Sweet, let’s make this an adventure,” He said excitedly. We walked to the bus terminal and caught the one that goes in the general direction of the beach, and not the crappy public one, the nice local one. You really have to live here to get the difference.

“So, how long until we get there?” He asked.

“About a half hour,” I told him. We just sat around and ate our fries, and talked. It was nice.

“Tell me about the tour,” I asked.

“Well, we’re going all across the country and we fly out to New York tomorrow afternoon. We get to spend the next three months doing what we love with some friends. It’ll be a lot of partying and stuff.”

“By stuff, I assume you mean bringing girls back with you,” I pointed out.

“That’s how it used to be,” He said. I looked up into his deep brown eyes.

“What changed?”

“I met somebody,” He said with a smirk. “But I still can’t control the fans.”

“You’re hilarious David,” I said to him. “You should do what you want.”

“I do, and I want you to know that I’ll be thinking of you while I’m away,” He told me.

“You have my number you know,” I pointed out.

“I’ll call, I promise,” He said.

“Good.” We talked some more and finished our food.

“Time to get off,” I said and pulled the cord. We got off and David looked around.

“I see no beach,” He commented.

“Duh, we have to walk,” I said.

“Lead the way.” I started to walk forwards and he took my hand. I smiled and kept on walking, pulling him behind me. It was nice to walk down the dark street with no one around and no noise. I had to stop in the middle of the street to take off my heels.

“Here,” He said and went in front of me. “Jump on.” So I did. I was careful not to choke him while he carried me down the street. All the houses were dark. The beach access was only around the corner, I told him where to go. When we got to the beach, it was lit up by the moon. It was so pretty. David let me down and I pulled him by the hand.

“Come on!” I yelled and we ran around in the dark. We drew in the sand like little kids.

“How old are you anyways?” He asked me once we got tired and sat on the high rocks that were piled on the side. It sort of sectioned off the beach and made it a lot more private.

“I’m only 17,” I told him. His eyes went wide.

“Is it legal for you to work at a tattoo shop?” He asked. I laughed at his question.

“Yes, 17 is when you can get your piercing license-y thing, I’ve had mine for a while now,” I pointed out.

“Damn, you aren’t even legal yet,” he said. I laughed harder, mostly because I already knew he was like 20.

“No, I’m not, I will be in a few months though.”

“When’s your birthday?” He asked me.

“March 20th,” I answered.

“Good, I’ll be back for your birthday,” He said proudly. The rest of the night was insanity. I guess one of the neighbors said we were being loud and we heard some cops.

“Oh my god, come on Dave!” I whispered and climbed down the rocks onto the other side.

“What?” He asked.

“Just run with me,” I told him. Together we made it just behind the trees before the cops lights shone over the rocks where we just were. We kept running until we were back on a side street. I knew exactly where we were.

“So, what was that?” He asked as I put my shoes back on.

“The cops, we weren’t supposed to be there,” I said still trying to catch my breath.

“Wow, this was all very illegal,” he said with a smile.

“It’s not illegal to date me, it’s only illegal if we sleep together,” I told him with a wink and started off towards the mall we were behind.

“But that’s all the fun!” He whined.

“Don’t make me call the cops on you,” I said walking backwards.

“Very funny,” He said and poked me in the sides. I screamed.

“Stop it!” I exclaimed. Then it turned into a full out tickle fight in the middle of the empty parking lot.

“TRUCE!” David screamed after a while. My sides hurt.

“Fine,” I said and dropped my hands. We walked to the front of the mall and called a cab. I was getting really tired. After about 20 minutes, the cab showed up and we got in. I yawned and David pulled me against his side after I told the driver where to go. He was comfy for being so skinny.

Eventually the cab stopped in front of my apartment complex. He walked me all the way up the stairs to my door.

“I had a lot of fun,” I told him.

“So did I, I’ll call you,” he said. I nodded and then he leaned in and kissed me goodnight. It was soft and not at all like I thought it would be. He pulled away, told me goodnight and turned to leave.

“Dave!” I called and ran over to him. I kissed him this time and threw my arms around his neck. His hands wound around my waist and I pulled my head away.

“I thought you deserved more since you’re leaving tomorrow,” I told him.

“Good call,” He said with a smirk.

“Call me,” I said and with one last kiss, I pulled away and went back to my apartment. I unlocked it to see it messy and void of my roommate. Of course she was out. I changed into some shorts and a tank top and crawled under the covers. I was almost asleep when I heard August come back. She checked on me.

“How was Romeo?” She asked.

“Perfect,” I said sleepily and turned over. She left and just as I was about to fall asleep again, my window slid open. I sat up quickly when someone came in my room through said window.

“Relax, it’s just me,” He said. I flicked on my lamp to see David closing the window.

“How’d you know to climb the tree?” I asked.

“Your friend told me,” He said with a smirk. “Besides, I didn’t really want to leave just yet.”

“You two are dangerous,” I muttered and rubbed my head.

“Sorry, I can leave if you want,” He said.

“No, no, please stay,” I told him. We ended up curled up on my bed. Apparently he had run into August on the way down the stairs. And I figured he couldn’t stay forever. Later that night, I watched him climb back out my window, onto the tree branch that would get him down. I didn’t sleep very well that night.
