People scream.
Lights flash.
I can't see anything.
My face is wet, and I taste blood.
A loud 'BOOM' goes off in the distance and a woman screams for help.

Sweat covers my forehead as I awake from my sleep.
I feel a pounding in my head. I must've hit my head in the middle of the night.
I realise the situation I'm in.
I can't hide forever. The Society will try to find me.
I need to run. And there's only one place to go,
I need to go over the wall.
It's almost impossible. People have tried, and failed, to escape. Every time they were caught by the elders.
Then they are killed.
I need to try.
Suddenly, I smell something delicious. I glance at the counter and see that someone has brought me food.
I smile. My family loves me so much. They're sacrificing themselves for my protection.
Lillian walks in the room.
I need to take her with me. I can't lose her.
"Good morning Teresa." She smiles
"Lili," I begin. "I'm leaving."
"What do you mean Ter-"
"I'm leaving the Society lil." I interrupt her.
She stands there in shock.
"I want to come too."
"Lili, you can't."
"Why?"
"It's very dangerous. I could be caught." I say
"I don't want to lose you lil." I pull her into a hug.
"When are you leaving?" She asks.
I think for a moment.
"Tonight."
"Who else is coming?"
"I don't know. You need to go get ready for school." I grin.
She quickly exits the room.
I run downstairs to tell mom and dad.
After I finish telling them my plan they're stunned.
"Teresa, it's impossible."
"What other choice do I have!"
Mother hesitates.
"I can't stay here hiding forever!"
"Okay." Father sighs.
"Mom, you control the security."
"Yes,"
"Distract them so they don't see me."
"Okay."
"Dad, make sure Lillian and Sam don't follow me."
He nods.
"Teresa," mother starts. "You have to be careful."
"You too." I give a worried smile.
They say their goodbyes and go to work.
Sam and Lillian have the day off.
Speaking of them, they both race downstairs.
Sam looks worried.
"What is it?"
"My match..."
"Oh Sam! I forgot!"
He grins. But then it fades away.
"Mom and dad forgot."
"Sam, I'm sorry."
"It's fine."
"How much time do you have left?"
"5 minutes."
"And you didn't tell anyone that you're match date was tomorrow at dinner last night?!"
"It slipped my mind."
"Sam, you brought this upon yourself!" He grins, and I do too.
"I guess I did." Then he frowns.
"Well, you'd better go." I smile sadly.
"Yeah, I guess so."
I pull him into a hug and we just stand there.
"Good luck!" I say.
"I'll need it."
He says farewell to Lillian and leaves.
What an eventful day. I think.
I lay on the couch and go to sleep.
