Mia's POV

I took the last sip if water from my bottle as I trudged through the muddy grass. The rain had wet the ground and moistened the air quite well. We were wet, tired and hungry. well maybe Chris wasn't hungry because all the food we had were given to him.

You guys must be wondering why we're walking.  Well, apart from spotting... things move in the blood left behind by Lydia, our car got hijacked.

Stupid self conscious survivors.

We are just a block or two away from my house but we aren't gonna stay there. Maybe we would try to go in (if it was walker free) and pack some of our precious belongings and all before heading off for Jade's house.

Before my phone died I received a text from Jade that there were more survivors at her house besides Janice Jaden and herself. I'm really curious to know who. because whoever they are, they're nice according to Jade. unlike those who hijacked us.

psh we've been walking for about an hour already. We could've reached our place within 5 minutes if it weren't for those stupid hijackers. yes I do have a grudge against them.

why we couldn't fight back? You couldn't expect me to shoot an old guy and his family! We saw him and his grandchildren, I think who were about 10 and 14, walking along the pavement with their clothes soiled. I figured they escaped so we stopped and offered them a ride and that we could survive together.

We didn't know it was a freaking ambush! his son in law and daughter came out pointing shotguns at us and yelled at us to get out before they drove off, nearly putting a bullet through Carol's leg.

Assholes.

"You want more water Mia?" Carol asks as she reached to take her own bottle.

"Nah... I'm fine thanks." I waved her off.

"Home! home!" I hear Chris yell.

"Shh Chris quiet kay?" I whispered, fearing loud noises would attract walkers. But the city/town was quite empty. Maybe the walkers all walked off to another part of the place?

~~~
I pushed open the door gently. Everything seemed normal in my house. The garden looked like it hadn't been stepped on, the exterior of the house seemed as per usual.
It almost seemed like there wasn't an apocalypse.
Carol picked Chris up and followed me close behind. I close the main door in case any walker tries to make an entrance in this fine home.
At every creak and moan of the floorboards or door, I turn and aimed my gun at that direction.
First thing I did was check ALL possible entryway into the house. The back door, all the windows. I closed extra doors in case.
Slowly we made our way upstairs to our rooms. Nope. Nothing had been broken nor broken into. So what does that mean? That means it's zombie free!
"Ahhh!" I hear Carol scream and Chris started crying from the first floor. Not bothering about the stairs I jumped down and started a sprint towards Chris wailing. Immediately I see Carol using a butcher knife trying to kill the walker that seemed to have appeared from nowhere.
I lashed out my gun and yelled,"Duck!"
Before I could put the bullet through it's head, someone else already did.
"Where did that come from?" I ask turning around to spot 3 men. One looked like he was in his mid 40s and the other two looked about my age and slightly older.
The one in his mid 40s looked like a leader. He had unspoiled clothing and so did the other 2.
"T-thanks," I stuttered out and the one who released the bullet gave me a dazzling, heart melting smile.
"The names Henry." The one in his mid 30s introduced,"And these are my sons."
Henry was not badly built, He had Jet Black hair with emerald eyes.
"Hey I'm Daniel. Call me Dan and I'm 16."
Dan was quite well built. He had the same hair color as his father but he had blue eyes instead.
"And I'm Jesse. I'm 18." The one with the dazzling smile shook my hand firmly.
He was definitely well built with abs showing through his shirt. His hair was brown in colour and he had mesmerising emerald eyes like his father.
I literally melted
After Carol calmed Christopher I released a small relieved sigh. "I decided to check all the cupboards in the house and... It popped up from the last few I was checking.  means it's the only walker here i guess."
"We'll just have to be careful."
"I'm Jade and that's my sis Carol and my bro Christopher. Glad to see there are more alive."
I briefed them on the safe place we were planning on going to and suggested forming a group,"Safety in numbers, right?" Carol commented earning nods from the older man.
"Sounds good to me." Dan smirked, resting his baseball bat on his shoulder. Jesse reloaded his pistol.
"Crap... That's my last round of ammo..." Jesse cursed as he reloaded his pistol.
"Don't worry. Doesn't look like there's any thing to use them on." I smiled reassuringly,"Not just that, the place we're going is a haven for weapons."
That sentence lit up Jesse's face.
"Right, where's that?"
~~~~~~~~~~

We grabbed every single belonging that was precious and limited ourselves to only a haversack each.

Not forgetting every heirloom, Objects that will remind us of our family members and a weapon each, we left the safety of our house.

"Never expected such a haven to be so near us." Dan smirked as he closed the house door behind him.
