I woke up not sure what was going on. I was in a weird ass room. I could barely see, cuz everything was blurry. I shifted, feeling something in my arm.
"Daddy mommy moved." I hear Halos beautiful voice, soft and sweet like mine.
I notice Blue put his phone in his pocket, then picks up Halo and walks over to me.
"Mommy." Halo touches my face. I look at her and smile.
I try to speak but nothing comes out. I try again still, nothing. I even try to scream, nothing happens. Blue notices and pressed the nurse button.
"Rae, you can't speak?" Blue asks, moving my hair out my face.
I try to say no, nothing comes out, so I shake my head. Halo gets out of Blue arms and lays next to me. Holding me. The nurse comes in, in a rush.
"She woke up. But something's wrong." Blue says.
"What's the problem?" The nurse ask me checking my ivs, and other machines. When I don't respond she walks over to me. "Blink if you feel this. "
She touches my big toes. I blink. She touch my legs. I blink. She touches my hand. I blink. I feel this bitch touching me. I just want to know what the fuck Is going on. Why am I in the hospital, why the fuck can't I talk?
"Well she's not paralyzed. Are you light headed?" I shake my head. I feel ok actually. Besides the fact that I can't say anything.
"She can't talk to me!" Halo cries, holding me tighter. I do the same, rubbing her messy hair. How long have I been in here? Why am I here? So many questions, so little answers.
"She tried to talk and couldn't." Blue says, holding my hand. I want to snatch away, or maybe say don't fucking touch me. But I can't.
"Oh, ok. Wait here." I had no choice but to 'wait here'.
The nurse walked out. I don't know how much layer, but a couple I'd doctors and nurses come in. They escort Blue and Halo out. I didn't want Halo to see me like this to be honest, but I really needed her here.
The doctors dragged me this room, did I don't know how many tests on me.
I woke up back in the same room. I'm tired of being here. The nurse comes in, mom stands up. Blue, Rue, Halo, and Reeve paying close attention.
"Due to the incident Raven has come across Aphonia. Aphonia is the inability to produce voice. It is considered more severe than dysphonia. A primary cause of aphonia is bilateral disruption of the recurrent laryngeal nerve, which supplies nearly all the muscles in the larynx which is your voice box. Damage to the nerve may be the result of lost of voice. Aphonia means "no sound." In other words, a person with this disorder has lost their voice. Basically, any injury or condition that prevents the vocal cords, the paired bands of muscle tissue positioned over the trachea, from coming together and vibrating will have the potential to make a person unable to speak. When a person prepares to speak, the vocal folds come together over the trachea and vibrate due to the airflow from the lungs. This mechanism produces the sound of the voice. If the vocal folds cannot meet together to vibrate, sound will not be produced. Aphonia can also be caused by and is often accompanied by fear, which in Raven's case makes her condition only temporary, but not estimated exactly how long temporary is. Other than that Raven is perfectly fine. She recovered drastically. She will be released today." I listened to every word upset as the nurse broke my condition down. What the fuck is going on?
"So what does she do about the aphonia?" Rue asks.
"Well in her case it's not as serious as most where they get treatment or surgery. She just has to not use her vocal cords for at least two weeks, while drinking a lot of water so the throat stays moist. I will also considered her to be stress free stress can cause more trouble. If she wants to do voice therapy she could but from her tests she'll be fins in no time." The nurse says.
