The Undercover Model

Chapter 9

Horrified, I look all around me and everyone has their eyes and attention on me.

Why does life got to be so cruel??

The cafeteria went silent. Dead silent. You could even hear a pin drop AND a silent fart. It was actually that quiet. Well I actually hope no one farts in this cafeteria because that would soooo awkward and embarrassing. They would be so humiliated for the rest of their lives...but then again..it would take all the attention off me.

I snap out of my thoughts when i look up only to be met with the horrified look on Jerkface's face. He looks so mortified like he couldn't believe I just drenched him with the nasty cafeteria food.

Whoops.

Elena quickly helped me up.

"I got some annoying dude covered in food." I whispered loudly so he most likely heard it.

"Umm.. not just an annoying dude. You got some half naked clown covered in food too." Elena whispered normally. And of course everyone heard it.

Clown? Half naked??

I then just realise that there was a barbie right next to jerkface.

I could feel stares from every direction.

"Oh no you didn't, you brat!" The barbie screeched at me.

Soon after she said that, my cheek was stinging painful and I let out a little yelp.

Did she.. did she just slap me? Me?! I was speechless but...that voice... I recognise that voice.

It was my snotty neighbor.

She has blonde hair that was bleached too much and of course, blue eyes.... wait, didn't she have brown eyes when she was younger? Oh. She's wearing eye contacts.

She is also wearing a white dress, that is waaaay too short. If she bends down say goodbye to your sight because your eyes would never recover after seeing such a sight.

She sure has changed. With all of that make up, anyone would easily mistake her for a clown or the nun from the movie 'The Conjuring 2'.

I glanced at Elena, seeing that she's as shocked as I am.

Our horrible neighbour, our most dreadful enemy since childhood, is called Valori.

Rage grew within me as my memory recalled all she had done to us.

Just as I was about to scream at her, I realised by doing that, I would blow my cover as a nerd.

"I.. I'm sorry,"I forced myself to apologise through gritted teeth.

Soon, you'll be sorry.

"Ugh.. You better be. Look what you did! Im covered in this filthy mess, you ugly nerd!" Valori said in disgust. "I'm so going to make your life miserable, and you'd wish you hadn't even come to this school."

The cafeteria was dead quiet, they were all watching. It was as if they were watching an intense movie.. just without the popcorn.

Jerk face scoffed and walked away, probably to get all that food off of him.

I glanced at Elena again and saw that she was trying not to laugh.

Valori saw that I glanced at Elena and then glared at her as if to warn her.

"Wait.. oh.. ohh.. hold on a minute.." Valori said as if trying to recall something.

Valori started to laugh angrily not removing her eyes off Elena.

Could she see through our facades? Did she realise I and Elena's true identities? Did she recognise us?

"You. You called me a half naked clown didn't you?"Valori continued to laugh,"You do realise that I, Valori, will be a model just like Crystal Heart. I am prettier and more popular than you two will ever be!"

Pshh! As if!

I turned back to Elena and started to walk away with her following behind.

It is better to avoid drama to be honest.

I could hear Valori's rude comments about us but I rolled my eyes and headed to my locker.

Oh. I totally forgot! I actually brought two apples, one for breakfast and the other for lunch. I may have forgotten to eat breakfast.

I handed one of my apples to Elena and saw that she was looking down, ashamed.

Did we really go into the cafeteria for nothing? For an new enemy?? What a complete waste of time...never gonna get those fifteen minutes of my life back.

All that drama for nothing. I shake my head at myself for forgetting about the apples. Dammit.

There was an awkward silence as we continued to walk.

"Cr- Nicole?  Can you stay here? I need to go to the bathroom, be right back."Elena whispered to me.

I nodded my head in response. I had all these mixed emotions; anger, sadness and frustration. I'm so annoyed.

Who knew being a nerd was really this hard. Being judged all the time and being bullied?

I shoved my hands in my pockets and felt headphones in there. I plugged it into my phone and listened to the sweet sound of.... nothing.

I pretend to listen to music, but really, I was listening to everyone's conversations.

"Did you hear about how those two new nerds that spilt cafeteria food all over Valori? It was hilarious!"

At least some people agree.

"I didn't know that Valori wanted to become a model! But how is she going to be just like Crystal Heart? She wears too much makeup."

Finally, someone points it out.

I started shaking my head to the beat of my imaginary song and looked up. I saw that there was a group of real nerds talking.

"Did you know that Valori knew Crystal Heart and Elena Starrs when she was younger? Apparently, they were great friends but soon parted ways when they became models and left Valori behind."

Great friends?! Did Valori spread a rumour that we were great friends with her?..I think she missed the part where she bullied and tormented us as children!

She's using us to become popular... huh, funny really.

She is definitely wasting her time thinking that she would get famous just because she says that we were 'best friends'

Pffft gotta try better than that.
